Community meal at Epworth’s keeps Thanksgiving spirit going

It’s a cozy church, comfortable and welcoming from the front doors to the dining hall.

On a cold winter’s night, a volunteer opens the door for visitors, and the guests shuffle in steadily for the monthly community meal at Epworth Methodist Church. This month’s meal was a Thanksgivingthemed feast, with heaping helpings of mashed potatoes and gravy and both turkey and ham. With pie, coffee, lemonade and warm, baked bread rolls, the atmosphere felt like a home, relaxed and at ease. There was plenty for everyone, as there always is. Epworth holds its community meals the last Tuesday of every month and all are welcome to join them. The church is located at 680 8th Ave SW in Valley City.
