Letter to the Editor

To those of you who care - and even to those who don’t:

You no doubt have heard about the controversy going on around our state and nation, both for and against, books that contain pornography. The reason for the controversy – they are available to children. The libraries are promoting these pornographic books as education to children of most ages. This has spread into the school system.

It would be good to consider what one expert had to say regarding this subject. So, let’s look back at 1989 and what Ted Bundy had to say. Ted Bundy had killed over 20 young ladies over a period of time. He was finally caught, tried, and sentenced to death. The day before being put to death he was interviewed by Dr. James Dobson. Bundy was asked for the reasoning behind all of these murderous crimes. His reply to this was “pornography”, his addiction to pornography.

Ted Bundy became an authority on the subject. He spent a considerable amount of time on death row. He asked the others on death row as well, what fueled their lives of crime? Every one of them answered “porn”. He also told Dr. Dobson, “They can put me to death, but there will be thousands more like me.” He was talking about the pornography availability 34 years ago. At that time it wasn’t even a fraction of what it is now, and especially not in our library. Certainly, not to children at the age of 11 years.

So, what is the point of all this? We are now sending our tax dollars to create more Ted Bundys. There is hardly a day that a local news broadcast goes without reporting a case of rape, teachers involved with kids, even law enforcement, involved in said crimes.

Sex offenders move into your town, which only proves what Bundy said, “There will be thousands more like me.”

For the sake of our children, take this away!
