Valley City Times-Record

Vipers Go 2-2 on roadtrip reach 20 wins plateau

-

Beating a good team three times in a row is difficult. Beating a good team four times in a row is even more difficult. The Valley City Vipers squirts would learn both of these lessons this past weekend.

The Vipers would start their weekend roadtrip Saturday morning vs. Watford City, whom they’d make quick work of, winning 9-0. Saturday afternoon they’d face off with Mandan, a team they’ve beat twice this year, and even though they’d outshoot Mandan 36-26, they’d fall 4-5.

Sunday morning the Vipers would head to Devils Lake to take on the Flames A, a team they had also beat twice this year, and take game one 6-3 but drop the back half of the double header 3-5 (one Flames goal being an empty netter).

Brody Kalbrener, Gray Kasowski and Gavin Wiebe would pace the Vipers offense with 11, 10 and seven points respectively. Goalie Tyler Olsen would collect another shutout on the year and collect nine, 21, 26 and 28 saves in the four games. The Vipers are now 20-6 on the year and will welcome a three game series at home next weekend after being on the road the last four weekends.
