Valley City Sharks compete in Bismarck meet
Over the weekend of January 13-15 the Valley City Sharks participated in the Aquastorm Category 5 swim meet in at the BSC Aquatic & Wellness Center, located on the campus Bismarck State College. The Sharks had eight swimmers who competed against fifteen teams from North Dakota, South Dakota and Minnesota. The team had an excellent performance against some of the best swimmers from across our region. Lincoln Berg made finals in five events finishing 5th in the 100 IM, 3rd in the 50 yard & 100 yard butterfly and 7th in the 100 freestyle and finishing 4th in the 50 yard backstroke. He also posted a state qualifying time and 3rd place finish in his first 500 freestyle race of the season. Sophie Gilbertson had three top 15 finishes against some very strong competition. Leah Gregerson did a great job swimming two events in her very first swim meet. Annabelle Milbrandt made finals and placed 9th in the 200-yard backstroke. Harper Nelson showed good progress with time drops in four of the six events she swam including a great come from behind finish to with her heat of the 50 breaststroke. Cambri Pfennig again shined in her breaststroke events. She made finals and placed 8th in the 50 breaststroke, and she had a state qualifying time in her first race swimming of the 200 yard breaststroke. Tricia Pfennig had two top twenty finishes and had time improvements in five of her races. Cambrie Westman continued her great swimming with top ten finishes in 6 of her 8 events including a 4th place in the 50 yard breaststroke and 5th place in the 50 yard backstroke, 100 yard IM and 100 yard breaststroke. It was exciting to see our swimmers perform so well against some much larger teams. Now the team is focused on preparing for the FM
