Albert J. Van Bruggen, age 83 of Grafton, North Dakota passed away Monday, February 13, 2023 at the Sanford Hospital of Bismarck, ND.

Albert J. Van Bruggen was born July 25, 1939 near the Litchville/Marion, North Dakota area, the son of the late Peter Van Bruggen and Lucy (Reinstra) Christense­n. He attended school in Litchville, ND and then started working on the family farm. He enlisted in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany. Albert was united in marriage to Bonnie Kegley on October 12, 1963 in Valley City, North Dakota. The couple made their home in Valley City, Devils Lake, Park River and Grafton. While living in Valley City and Devils Lake, he worked for Enterprise Sales. He worked for Morton Buildings and Motor Coach Industries for 25 years while living in Park River and Grafton. Albert retired from Motor Coach Industries in 2010.

He was a member of Bethel Free Lutheran Church. Albert’s faith and family were very important to him. He loved spending time with them, especially his grandchild­ren and great grandchild­ren. He enjoyed camping.

Albert is survived by his wife, Bonnie Van Bruggen, Grafton, ND; sons: Brian (Stacey) Van Bruggen, Grafton, ND; John (Kari) Van Bruggen, St. Cloud, MN; grandchild­ren: Mercideze (Zachary) White, Joyanna Van Bruggen, Kai Van Bruggen, Kira Davidson, Austin (Abby) Smith, Cassie (Jason) Van Horn; great grandchild­ren: Carson White, Ryder Smith, Easton Offutt, Zayden Van Horn; sisters: Marie

Fjelstad, Fargo, ND; MaryAnn (Dale) Louis, Bonita Springs, FL. He was preceded in death by his parents: Peter Van Bruggen and Lucy (Gordon) Christense­n; granddaugh­ter, Faithlyn Van Bruggen; sisters: Martha Caouette and Helen Cheney.

Funeral Services will be Saturday, February 25, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. at the Bethel Free Lutheran Church, Grafton, ND. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church.

Inurnment will be at the Litchville Cemetery, rural Litchville, ND in the spring. Military Rites will be provided by the Grafton American Legion Post and the North Dakota National Guard Honor Guard.
