Strengthen North Dakota to Administer Bush Prize
Minot, N.D. — Strengthen ND and the Bush Foundation are excited to announce that after a two-year hiatus the Bush Prize is returning to North Dakota. The Bush Foundation will be awarding the Bush Prize to organizations identified by Strengthen ND, North Dakota’s Community-Based Grantmaking Partner.
“The Bush Foundation has been a critical partner in providing resources to power community solutions across our state,” remarked Megan Langley, Executive Director of Strengthen ND. “We are proud to support the Bush Foundation as they continue their efforts through the refreshed Bush Prize.”
The purpose of the Bush Prize remains the same – to celebrate organizations that are most valued and admired within their communities and have a track record of successful community problem solving. What changes is that each of the Bush Foundation’s community-based grantmaking partners will operate and select the Bush Prize in their respective communities, which encompasses their grantmaking region of Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, and the 23 Native Nations that share the same geography.
Bush Prize awards are flexible and can be used to build up reserves or test that next big idea or whatever else would best support the organization's ongoing good work. The grant amounts are up to 25% of an organization’s most recent fiscal year expenses, with a maximum of $500,000.
A virtual information session will be held on March 8th, 2023, where organizations and communities can learn more about the Bush Prize criteria. Applications for the Bush Prize open in North Dakota on March 15th, 2023 and close on April 30th, 2023, with an announcement of the Prize Winner coming in early October.
