Letters to the Editor

In the February 27, 2023, issue of the Ransom County Gazette there was an unsigned article in the main body of the paper titled “District 24 Legislators invited but do not attend local legislative meeting”.

The article of unknown author informs the reader of a “nonpartisan, public information session” organized by Madeline Luke. For those who are not familiar with Madeline Luke, she recently ran a failed campaign for the ND legislature in District 24. The article’s anonymous author then informs the reader that

District 24 Republican legislators Dwight Kiefert and Cole Christensen along with Senator Michael Wobbema did not attend her “non-partisan” meeting. This of course would imply to the reader that these elected officials are not accessible to their constituents because they did not attend this “non-partisan” meeting hosted by their failed political opponent.

After digesting this anonymously written piece of journalism the reader would perhaps be surprised to learn that there have been three other public forums hosted in District 24 attended by our elected team during this legislative cycle. In fact, there was even a legislative forum held in Lisbon at the Pizza Ranch on January 28th. But the anonymous journalist did not feel that was important to the article, apparently. Other meetings have been hosted in Valley City and Litchville, with a meeting coming soon to Enderlin and another meeting later in Valley City. We hope the anonymous author can find a way to attend one of these and report on it. Michelle Trangsrud, Enderlin, ND
