*Valley City Farmers Market meet every Monday and Thursday from 4-6 p.m., in the Handy Home & Hardware parking lot in Valley City). For more information call Carla at 701-840-3224.
*Barnes County Veterans Service Office Veterans Coffee Hour welcomes BC Veterans to a meet and greet with other area veterans every third Wednesday of the month from 10 a.m.-12 noon. Office is located at 575 10th St SW, Suite #7, Valley City (same building as Sheriff’s Office). Refreshments and treats will be provided.
*Barnes County Museum, is open and welcoming visitors from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday through Saturday, closed on Sundays. The museum is located at 315 Central Ave N, Valley City. Call Wes at 701-8450966 for tour and additional information.
*St. Catherine Quilters make quilts for those in need, meeting every Thursday from 1-4:30 p.m. and 6:30-9 p.m. in the basement gym of St. Catherine School. All are welcome, no experience necessary and supplies are provided. Questions call Christine 701-8402580 or Lela 701-8458352.

Wed., Oct. 4
• Word renowned speaker, researcher and Harvard professor Naomi Oreskes will be in Valley City for a public presentation on “Why Trust Science?” on Wed., Oct. 4. The event is free and open to the public and will be held on VCSU campus in the Fine Arts auditorium along with book signing for her book “The Big Myth.” Dr. Oreskes’s presentation can be viewed live or can be viewed as an archive on Facebook on the “What in the World is Going On?” page. • Valley City Eagles Trustee Meeting will be held Wednesday, October 4, 7:30 p.m.
• Barnes County Senior Center Meal: Fishwich on wheat bun, beets, augratin potatoes, tarter sauce, applesauce. Activities: 9:30 a.m. Bone Builders Exercise.
• FEMA and the Federal Communications Commission will conduct a nationwide test of the Emergency Alert System and Wireless Emergency Alerts Wednesday, October 4, at approximately 1:20 p.m. The national test will consist of two portions, testing WEA and EAS capabilities. The Wireless Emergency Alert portion of the test will be directed to all consumer cell phones. The Emergency Alert System portion of the test will be sent to radios and televisions. • Valley City Barnes County Public Library celebrates their 120th Anniversary of the library and grand opening of Di’s Den will be held on Thursday, October 5 from 5-7 p.m. at the library. Dedication, ceremony at 5:30 p.m. with refreshments and door prizes to follow. The event welcomes the public. Come and join the fun!
