Job Service offers assistance to job seekers once a month at the VCBC Public Library

-

Valley City area employers and businesses can access Job Service North Dakota services in a variety of ways.

A representative from the Fargo Workforce Center is in Valley City on the second Thursday of every month from 10 a.m. to noon, at the public library. Some services can be provided on an immediate basis via telephone. Individuals may choose to go to either the Jamestown or Fargo offices for help. In this case, it’s recommended that you call ahead in case the help you need can be provided without the need for you to travel.

If you’re recruiting workers, you’ll want to utilize North Dakota’s largest job board at www.jobsnd.com. You can post/update job openings and access wage and benefit information, as well as find a wealth of information on other employment-related topics. If you’re facing a layoff or closure, Workforce Center staff members can help you get vital information on job search services and Unemployment Compensation to your workers.

Looking for work in these times almost always means using technology. Job Service North Dakota can help you learn to navigate online applications, find job openings, and develop and post a resume. Specialized services are provided for veterans and qualified individuals who may have barriers to finding employment. Veteran’s services may be provided at a Workforce Center or via outreach.

Job Service ND Workforce Centers provide information on how to apply for Unemployment Insurance and computers for filing claims.

WIOA program Adult, Dislocated Worker and Youth services include a whole range of services geared to employment that fits with an individual’s skills, interests, and abilities. Some of these are: career planning; evaluating skills; exploring training options if skills updates are needed, help with job search and many more. WIOA can help with funding post-secondary training for eligible individuals. The program currently has students at various colleges and school in fields like welding, nursing, CDL, HVAC, electrical, IT, mechanics, accounting, business, and dozens of other.

For those who may need a bit more help in getting a first job or transitioning from high school to the world of work there are specific services available through the WIOA program. Job Service career advisors are available to visit with school counselors, parents, students, educators, and anyone who works with youth as they are making career plans to see if WIOA services would be helpful.

If you’d like more information on any of these services, Job Service is at the library on the second Thursday of each month (upcoming, February 8th and March 14th) between 10 a.m. and noon. Or you can call the Fargo Workforce Center at 701-239-7300; or Jaci Gately at 701-239-7311.
