Amanda Marie Rood of Valley City, ND, passed away at her home on January 18, 2024, due to complications from several chronic medical conditions. She was 46.

Amanda (“Mandy”) was born in Pipestone, MN, on December 13, 1977. She attended Valley City High School.

She had many jobs throughout her life: food service, telemar- keting, Blackjack dealer, sales at Appliance City, advertising for WDAY of Fargo, and manager of the bar in Kathryn, ND. Across all her jobs, she loved getting to know people. Mandy could easily turn a stranger into a friend, and she took pride in remembering details that made people special, such as their favorite drink or recent vacation. She loved politics and loved arguing about politics.

A makeup enthusiast, she enjoyed sharing tips and tricks with her family and friends. She cared deeply for animals, especially her sweet puppy Ellie (“Peanut”), who could regularly be seen riding along in Mandy’s passenger seat.

Amanda is survived by her parents, Rodney and Brenda Rood; her siblings, DeAnn “DeDe” Hejtmanek and Craig Rood (Laura Brown); her nephew, Taylor Hejtmanek; her niece, Jordan Hejtmanek; her four great nieces, Aubree Hejtmanek, Adalynn Hejtmanek, Annyia “Rosie” Hejtmanek, and Brylie Sherman; and her close friends, especially Fred Charnetzki and Val Wurzer.

A graveside service will be held in the spring at Hillside Cemetery in Valley City.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Oliver-Nathan Funeral Chapel, Valley City. An online guestbook is available at www.olivernathanchapel.com.
