Sargent County led from start to finish but not without a strong effort from Barnes County North in the second half of a 66-52 Bulldogs win at the BCN Gym.

After Sargent County scored the first five points of the game, Chance Roaldson and Jonah Harstad hit threepointers to pull the Bison to within one at 7-6 with 5:56 to go in the first quarter. But that would be as close as the Bison would get, they would not tie the game have the lead.

Sargent County ended the first on a 9-3 run with Luke Martinson scoring seven of those nine. He outscored BCN on his own 11-9 in the quarter.

Will Schwehr and Harstad would score the first two baskets of the second quarter to pull the Bison to within three at 16-13 50 seconds into the quarter.

But the Bulldogs would end the quarter on a 17-7 including two 7-0 runs, to lead 33-20 at halftime.

Sargent County scored the first six points of the third quarter to open up a 19 point lead. Jace Frye scored an easy layup on a nice back door pass by Martinson to make it 39-20 Sargent County with 5:01 to go in the third quarter.

After Grady Wehlander scored the first two baskets of the fourth quarter to open up a 50-36 lead, Will Schwehr and Oliver Hanson got the Bison back in the game. Oliver Hanson made two free throws then scored inside to cut the lead to six, 52-46 with 3:41 to go in the fourth quarter.

But the Bison had no answer to Martinson. The senior scored ten of the last 14 points for the Bulldogs as the lead never got below eight points the rest of the way. Both Schwehr and Hanson made three-pointers but it was too little too late as the Bulldogs pulled out the Region 1 win 6652.
