The 48th Annual Lion’s All-Star basketball games are set to be played Monday, July 15th and Tuesday, July 16th.

The Valley City HiLiners placed two players on the rosters this year. For the boys, senior Carson Eggert was named an alternate and for the girls, Tesa Olson was named to the roster.

Both players are coming off stellar senior campaigns for the HiLiners. Eggert, the son of Trisha and Tim Eggert, led the Hi-Liners in several categories this season. He led the team in rebounds (7.4 rpg), assists (4.1 apg), steals

(2.1 spg) and points (14.4 ppg). The senior also was named All-Region 1 and was a member of the All-Tournament team at state. The HiLiner boys reached the state tournament for the first time since 2000 and took fifth,

Olson, daughter of Jill and Jeff Olson, wrapped up her career as a HiLiner with an outstanding season. She led the Hi-Liners in scoring (12.4 ppg), second in assists (2.7 apg) fourth in steals (2.0 spg) and second in three-pointers made (30). She was named Senior Athlete of the Year for Region 1, was named to the AllRegion 1 team, the AllState tournament team and was second team All-State. She will be continuing her basketball

career at Dakota Wesleyan University in Mitchell, South Dakota.

The Hi-Liner girls made state for the first time in ten years and placed fourth.

This is the tenth time that Valley City has placed a boy and a girl on the Lion’s All-Star games roster. The last time was 2021 when Peyton Zaun and Jadyn Dieterle were named to the squads.

Another local player that made the A/B team is Max Musland from LaMoure/LitchvilleMarion. Musland, son of Eric and Denise, led the Loboes to the state Division B Boys Basketball tournament where they took seventh place.

Musland is the 15th

Loboe to be named to the Lion’s All-Star Games From 1 roster. He is the tenth to be named to the boys roster. He joins current Loboe head coach Tyler Thielges and his sister, Molly Musland, to be named to the squad.

Musland had a banner senior year. He was named to the All—Region 1 team, was Region 1 Senior Athlete of the Year. He made first team All-State and 2as a finalist for Mr. Basketball. And was on the All-Tournament team for the state tournament.

For the year, Musland averaged 25.5 points per game, 6.8 rebounds per game, 2.6 assists per game, and 2.5 steals per game.

The format for the series has changed. It will be Division AA versus a team made up of Division A and B players. The July 15th game will be in Bismarck, the July 16th game will be in Fargo.
