2024 Shrine Bowl Football All -Star Game players chosen

The rosters for the 2024 Shrine Bowl Football All-Star game have been announced and Valley City’s Ethan Miller made the squad. He was named to the 11-man East roster.

Miller joined the Hi-Liner squad in week four, homecoming week, after missing the 2022-23 wrestling season and 2023 baseball season due to knee and collar bone injuries.

During his senior season, Miller had nine tackles, six solo and six assisted. He led the team with three intercepti­ons and was second with 25 intercepti­on return yards. He was second with 147 return yards on kickoffs and punts. His 14.6 yard average on kickoffs led the team. He also had six receptions for 98 yards and a touchdown.

Miller was named All-EDC this season and was a second team All-State selection.

Valley City was 4-6 on the year and lost in the opening round of the playoffs to the eventual state champions, Fargo North, 41-7

Other local players that were named to the rosters were Blase Isaacson of LaMoure/Litcville-Marion and Connor Dahl of Maple River who were both named to the 9-Man East Roster.

Isaacson, a wide receiver and cornerback, led the team in receptions with 21 and yards receiving with 413. That comes out to an average of 19.7 yards per catch. He also caught four touchdown passes. Isaacson carried the ball eleven times for 29 yards, a 2.6 yards per carry average, and one touchdown. On defensive he had 13 assisted tackles, 30 solo tackles, one tipped ball, one fumble recovery and three intercepti­ons. He was named to the All-Region team.

The Loboeos were 8-3 this season and lost in the quarterfin­als of the playoffs to New Rockford-Sheyenne 24-18.

Dahl, a fullback and linebacker, rushed the ball 58 times for 285 yards for a 4.91 average. He caught 11 passes for 144 yards which is a 13.09 average. He ran for one touchdown and caught two more passes for scores. He was an All-Region choice as well.

Maple River finished the season 5-4 but did not make the 9-man playoffs.

The Shrine Bowl will be played Saturday, June 22nd at Jerome Berg Field on the campus of Mayville State University. The 9 Man game will be played at 4:00 p.m. The 11 Man game will be played at 7:00 p.m. This year marks the 50th Anniversar­y of the game.
