"Art is not what you see, but what you make others see." A quote from French Impressionist artist Edgar Degas, famous for his pastel drawings and oil paintings.

Famous artists of all time, like Vincent Van Gogh, Leonardo da Vinci, Pablo Picasso, Michelangelo and millions of others, have proved the words of Edgar to be valid. Artists have been telling stories through their pictures and astonishing us for centuries.

Valley City School’s have been blessed with unique talents who will showcase those unique talents in the upcoming 2024 Spring Art Show at the Valley City High School Hi-Liner Activity Center gym on April 25th from 5-7 p.m.

The art students have spent their days and nights working on their art pieces. They have shown patience throughout the process, working diligently to make their piece a complete perfection.

All of the hours they spend on it, all the times when they felt like giving up, but they did not, will pay off on April 25th, when people see their talent and appreciate it. The students who contributed to the art show are from K – 6th grade, 7th and 8thgrade, Art 1, 2, and Advanced Art 3 and 4.

Students from K-6th grade will showcase one artwork they did, and this can be their favorite one.

When it comes to 7 and 8th grade, their skill and experience are higher than elementary students, so they will showcase three artworks they did during the quarter—moving on with the best of the best talents on the team, the Art 1,2,3 and 4 students who will showcase the work they did from semester two including submissions for duck stamp, VCSU shows, artist trading cards, Governor Show, and more.

VCHS seniors will have spotlight areas to showcase their work, highlighting favorites they have created, during their time at

VCHS.

The advanced art students share with the TimesRecord that they feel art unites people and this show, although the art pieces are different from each other, blend together to make a phenomenal impression in the eye of viewer. Each piece seaming to communicate a different story through their talent.

The goal of the art show is to recognize talented students at Valley City High School, and also an opportunity to give the school an artistic recognition, at the same time a chance for parents, and community members, to witness the talent of our students.

The Valley City Public Spring Art Show will be held in the Hi-Liner Activity Center gym on Thursday, April 25th from 5-7 p.m.

The event is open to the public with all welcome, and encouraged, to attend.
