Area Track & Field teams compete at Fargo Elite Track Meet

Valley City and LaMoure/Litchville­Marion competed in the Fargo Elite Track Meet. Only the top 24 competitor­s in each event competed at the meet hosted by North Dakota State University at the Terrance Dahl and Donna Beres Track Complex.

Valley City had eight place winners, a school record broken, seven personal bests, and one more State Qualifier. Zachary Sykora placed second in the javelin with a personal best and state qualifying throw of 169’1. He also moved up to eighth place in school history.

Other place winners for the boys were Parker Jacobson who was second in the 100 Meter with a time of 11.16. The 4x200 Relay team of Jayden Suhr, Derek Shape, Isaac Norby and Parker Jacobson placed fourth with a time of 1:34.30. They missed qualifying for state by 0.06 seconds. The same four placed eighth in the 4x100 with a time of 45.67.

For the girls, Reagan Berg was second in both the 800 and 1600 Meters with times of 2:20.72 and 5:08.13 respective­ly. Her time in the 1600 broke her own school record. Kadie Kocka was tied for sixth in the pole vault with a vault of 8’6. Jovi Borg was eighth in the javelin with a throw of 97’3.25.

Other athletes that competed but did not place were, for the boys, Parker Jacobson was tenth and Derek Shape was 16th in the 200 Meters. Jacobson’s time of 23.48 was a new personal best. Corben Golovanoff was 18th in the 1600 Meters. His time of 4:49.39 was a new personal best. Scot Rohde was eleventh and Kaleb McClaflin was 16th in the javelin. Rohde’s throw of 133’4” was a new personal best he was also 22nd in the discus.

For the girls, athletes that competed but did not place, Greta Goven was tenth in the 1600 Meters and eleventh in the 800 Meters. Madison Wendel was 13th in the 100 Meter Hurdles with a personal best time of 17.95. Kadie Kocka was twelfth and Layni Bakalar was 13th in the long jump. Bakalar’s jump of 15’7.5 was a new personal best. Jovi Borg was 22nd in both the Discus and Triple Jump.

For boys scored 22 points and were tied for tenth out of 35 teams. The girls scored 19.5 points and were 15th out of 36 teams.

LaMoure-Litchville-Marion had two place winners and one state qualifier. Gunner Thielges placed seventh in the 110 Meter Hurdles with a state qualifying time of 16.24. Thielges was also twelfth in the 300 Meter Hurdles and 13th in the 200 Meters.

On the girls side, Onika Lesko was part of the 4x400 relay team along with Jada Smith, Lily Kramer and Addison Smith that took eighth with a time of 4:34.26. Lesko was 21st in the 200 Meter. Kramer and Addison Smith were 10th and 19th respective­ly in the triple jump.

The two points scored by Thielges had the Loboes tied for 33rd out of 35 teams and the one point scored by the relay team had the L/L-M girls tied for 35th out of 36 teams.
