Valley City Times-Record

OUT & ABOUT WITH CARTER...

-

Lots of activities take place in our City of Bridges. Yet many places in the Valley are quite unknown and unexplored to the average citizen. So, let us take a minute to go out and about with Carter. Well. It's that time of year again. They say we have three seasons in Valley City. They are as follows. Winter, summer, construction, and construction has begun. The Library's street will be under work; however, you can still access it through the handicapped doors! They aren't going anywhere! As I discussed in my last article, we must discuss and admire Valley City's Central Avenue, part 2

Main businesses like The 2nd Crossing Mercantile, Nu-Cara, Vault Coffee self-serve, and of course, the businesses in Valley have all had tremendous impacts on our town. During these summer months and weekends, you'll find the door open and workers living the dream. These people all have their own stories and specific tasks to complete. Yet it's perfect. This town is filled with friendly, hardworking people who do a great job. What a place to be where you can walk into a beautiful pharmacy, sit down, and enjoy coffee and conversations. What a place to be where businesses can open their doors to enjoy newcomers and daily customers. One thing that I like to indulge in is the stories behind these businesses.

Where I work, we have our regulars. Yet these businesses have certain people come in every day and talk. Maybe an older person will visit with friends once a day and then go to the next for "tea talk," as it were. Perhaps it's a young gentleman preparing to indulge in city history by exploring small businesses and connecting with local owners and employees through conversation and friendship. I think Valley City has many opportunities, and rather than chatting over social media apps such as Snapchat, Instagram, FaceTime, etc., We should focus on community engagement. You don't have to buy something, but you had a better visit that lovely old lady in the vault shop and talk about politics over a hot cup of joe.

Of course, this is hypothetical, but you get the point. There are so many friends to be made, stories to be shared, and love to be given in many ways. But guess what? VC is the best place to do it! God has plans for our generation and our city. I honestly can't wait to see what will come next.

Multiple organizations in this town have emerged for our city and funded our programs while also bringing these small businesses and successful people— hats off to them. Yet, I'll be honest. Things in VCHS and Valley City have been challenging this week as many changes are coming, but the best we can do is work together to improve this town and its good people. Try to remember the beauty behind the scenes in Valley. Remember that we have people here who want the best, and we live in a town with hospitality, love, respect, and, most importantly… nerdy wanna-be meteorologists.

So, from your favorite teen weather nerd, this is Carter Hass telling you to stay swaggy and god bless.
