Washington 6th graders take audience on a “Summer Camp” adventure
Washington Elementary music teacher, Michelle Mennis, and 6th grade students, welcomed audiences for a trip to “Summer Camp” during their concert Tuesday, April 23rd at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.
“This musical has what kids may love and fear about the summer camp experience, from the morning routine to the corny camp skits - and of course, the ultimate talent show! Put away your technology and allow this nostalgic
show to take you on a journey of finding a place to belong - through the mighty highs and comic lows of summer camp.” as stated in a synopsis from the publisher’s website.
Mennis says, “Our show features two Camp Directors, seven Camp Counselors, three Bears, two camp Bloggers, and of course the Knot Kid—we can’t forget about the Knot Kid! Washington 6th Graders have been working for about eight weeks on this show and have been putting in 100% effort while having fun! The students are very excited to share with our friends and families.”
Mr. Beauchman, Mrs. Gordon, Mr. Howard and Mr. McDaniel’s students shared Summer Camp songs including: “Morning Routine,” “I Want It All,” “Campfire Song,” “It’s a Bear!,” “Crazy Camp Campers,” and “Where I Belong” for guests during the performances.
Mennis and the students shared, “Thank you to all who helped make these performances happen. To Principal Chad Lueck and Superintendent Josh Johnson for their unending support. To Bryan Kriewald and crew for assistance with sound and live streaming the concert. To Amber Puckett for keeping our school running efficiently daily. To our custodian, Brian Berg, for keeping our school safe and clean. To the 6th grade teachers and paraprofessionals for their support and flexibility and most important a huge thank you to the families for all that you do for your students.
