*Barnes County Veterans Service Office Veterans Coffee Hour welcomes BC Veterans to a meet and greet with other area veterans every third Wednesday of the month from 10 a.m.-12 noon. Office is located at 575 10th St SW, Suite #7, Valley City (same building as Sheriff’s Office). Refreshmen­ts and treats will be provided.

*Barnes County Museum, is open and welcoming visitors from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday through Saturday, closed on Sundays. The museum is located at 315 Central Ave N, Valley City. Call Wes at 701-8450966 for tour and additional informatio­n.

• SE North Dakota’s bluegrass band, Monroe Doctrine, will perform in concert on Thursday, May 23 from 7:00 - 9:00 pm at the Vault Coffee Shop and Arts Center in Valley City. • Sheyenne Valley Memory Cafe will be held Thursday, May 23 at Faith Lutheran Church. Program (Dementia Conversati­ons) begins at 1:30 p.m. The church is located at 309 4th St NE in Valley City.

May 25 & 27

• The Transfer Station, in Valley City, will be closed Saturday, May 25th and Monday, May 27th in observance of Memorial Day. The Public Works and City Hall offices will be closed Monday, May 27th for Memorial Day. Monday’s and Tuesday’s route will be picked up Tuesday. Regular pick-up schedule for the rest of the week.

Mon., May 27

• Memorial Day Military Honors will be performed by various Veterans organizati­ons in Valley City, schedule is as follows: 9 a.m. Hillside Cemetery, 9:15 a.m. St. Catherine Cemetery, 9:45 a.m. Oriska Cemetery, 10 a.m. St. Bernard’s Cemetery, 10:20 a.m. Memory Gardens Cemetery, 10:50 a.m. Woodbine Cemetery, 11:15 a.m. Eagles (Riverside). The services are open to the public, with all welcome-and encouraged, to come and honor our Veterans.

• Valley City Eagles Club Memorial Day Celebratio­n will be held Monday, May 27th at the club with service prior, lunch to follow at noon. Club closes at 5 p.m.

• Eckelson-Sanborn American Legion Auxiliary Memorial Day Program will be held Monday, May 27th, 10:30 a.m., at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Sanborn, ND. Visits to the Sacred Heart and Fairview cemeteries and lunch at the Sanborn Community Center will follow the program.

• Leal Memorial Celebratio­n will be held May 27th with the Color Guard around noon at the Leal Cemetery. Lunch to follow at the Leal Fire Hall, bring a dish to pass. BBQ’s will be provided.

• Barnes County Courthouse will be closed in honor of Memorial Day, Monday May 27, 2024. Sheriff and Barnes County Jail will remain staffed.

• All are welcome to the 1916 Buffalo High School Open House on Monday, May 27, from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., in conjunctio­n with the annual Memorial Day Program by the Buffalo American Legion Easton-Yanish Post #10.

• Barnes County Senior Citizen Center will be closed in observatio­n of Memorial Day.

Tues., May 28
