Gear up for gadget-filled Aston Martin based on 007 vehicle
It won’t be available until 2020, but car connoisseurs and Bond-philes with fat wallets might want to reserve their Goldfinger DB5 continuation edition, based on James Bond’s legendary Aston Martin and produced in collaboration with EON Prods. Functioning gadgets — think revolving number plates, but not machine guns or ejection seats — will be developed with Bond special-effects supervisor Chris Corbould. The vehicle’s top speed is 148 mph. Only 25 will be sold, all in the original silver birch color. Another will be auctioned for charity. The DB5 was featured in six more Bond films after “Goldfinger,” including the most recent, “Spectre.” The $3.55 million price tag may leave some fans more shaken than stirred, however.
