John Krasinski
“A Quiet Place”
Though few genres of film place more emphasis on pacing, staging and sheer filmmaking craft than horror and action movies, neither genre has been particularly successful on Oscar night. That may be changing, however, with best director nominations for the likes of “Mad Max: Fury Road’s” George Miller and “Get Out’s” Jordan Peele, and if recent history is any indication, Krasinski’s maiden spin behind the camera shouldn’t be counted out. A massive hit this spring, Krasinski’s film landed on both AFI and the National Board of Review’s top 10 lists.
