The Spike Lee- directed film about police officer Ron Stallworth’s infiltration of the Ku Klux Klan in the 1970s ends with a disturbing coda: Footage of the 2017 civil unrest in Charlottesville, Va. (and President Trump’s statements on the matter). Co-writer Kevin Willmott reminds that former KKK grand wizard David Duke (Topher Grace) “is really the one that started to bring those extreme kind of issues into the mainstream” by attempting to speak at colleges.
