Mary Louise Blair Willie, 97 Signal Mountain, Tenn.

Mary Louise Blair Willie of Signal Mountain, Tenn., died at Alexian Health Care Center on Signal Mountain. She was born on September 1, 1914, in Gary, Ind., daughter of the late James Hardy Blair and Melissa Viola Hatley Blair and the widow of John Frederick (Jack) Willie. She was a devoted mother, grandmothe­r, and great-grandmothe­r. She was preceded in death by her sister, Frances B. Applegate and brother, James H. Blair. Survivors include her son, John F. Willie Jr.; daughters, Kathie W. Phillips, Susan W. Walker (Johnnie) Mary W. (Jim) Lynn; six grandchild­ren, James R. Sheorn III (Melissa), Mary Kathryn Moore (Bill), Samuel A. Houck, Kathryn D. Houck, Aaron J. Avakian (Becky), John F. Avakian (Crystal); four step-grandchild­ren, Kimberly M. Escalante, Dorothy W. Bailey (Ray), Kellie W Herlong (Michael); Stephanie Lynn; sixteen great-grandchild­ren. Relatives and friends of “Lou” are invited to attend her Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday, August 22, at 11:15 a.m. at Alexian Chapel. Visitation: will be one hour before the service. Prayers of Final Commendati­on and Farewell will follow at Forest Hills Cemetery. She had resided in Chickamaug­a for the past sixty years and was of the Baptist faith. She worked in the cafeteria at Pond Springs School for several years. She also had worked at Crystal Springs Mill in Chickamaug­a. She loved to cook and travel. She enjoyed gardening, planting flowers, making crafts, sewing and reading. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James David “J.D.” Vaughn; daughters-in-law, Polly and Ida Vaughn and several siblings. Survivors include her sons, Ernest Paul Vaughn, James Kenneth Vaughn both of Chickamaug­a; daughter, Carolyn Sue; five grandchild­ren, six great-grandchild­ren and one great-greatgrand­child; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services: Thursday, August 23, at 11 a.m. in the chapel with Rev. Larry Kirby officiatin­g. Burial: White Hall Cemetery, Hammonvill­e, Ala.
