COMMUNITY Oakwood Baptist Church will present Financial Peace University with Dave Ramsey. Financial Peace University (FPU) is a 9-week program that teaches a common sense, biblical approach to handling money. Classes begin Monday, Sept. 10, and run every Monday night for nine weeks through Nov. 5. Classes start at 6:30 p.m. and end at 8 p.m. at Oakwood ‘s Gateway Campus, 4031 Cloud Springs Rd (inside Gateway Mall), in Fort Oglethorpe. The History Center’s executive director and historian, Dr. Daryl Black, will serve as tour guide, and he will meet registered participan­ts at the south end of the Walnut Street Bridge in Chattanoog­a. Participan­ts will view significan­t Civil War sites, the site of a manufactur­ing company chartered in 1847, and several early 20th Century residences that remain on the Bluff. This is the fifth annual contest in which residents are encouraged to vote for the favorites in local services in 55 categories.
