Ridgeland spikers keep rolling, sweeps Gordon Lee, Sonoraville in Chickamauga
The Ridgeland Lady Panthers volleyball team improved to 12-3 on the season with a pair of victories in a tri-match at Gordon Lee last Monday night.
Ridgeland opened with a 21-25, 25-14, 25-22 over traditional Class AAA power Sonoraville.
Nicole Lonsford had 12 kills and 20 digs in the win. Katelyn Baker added eight kills and six digs. Te’a Owens finished with 18 digs and four kills. Morgan Woody chipped in with 13 digs and three kills, while other highlights included Madison Killen (28 digs), Maddison Sailer (9 digs) and Taylor Williams (5 digs).
The Black-and-White capped the night with a 25-20, 25-22 victory over the Lady Trojans. Baker led the offense with seven kills, followed by Woody and Owens with five each and Lonsford with four. Killen added 22 digs in the win.
Gordon Lee got five kills from Emma Boles and three from Julianna Spradlin. Hannah Lee finished with eight digs and Emma Moore added eight assists.
The Lady Trojans also beat Sonoraville, 25-16 and 26-24. Anna Pettigrew had six kills with Spradlin finishing with three. Lee added eight digs in the win, while Moore collected 10 assists.
Gordon Lee falls to Heritage, thumps Murray County
The Lady Trojans dropped a three-set match to Heritage on Thursday, but bounced back with an easy victory over Murray County in a tri-match in Chickamauga.
Heritage beat Gordon Lee in the first set, 2513, only to see the Lady Trojans come back for a 25-23 win in the second set. But the Lady Generals would win the final set, 25-17, to clinch the victory.
Spradlin and Pettigrew had seven kills each for Gordon Lee. Lee added 10 digs, while Moore collected a dozen assists.
The final match would go much smoother for the Navy-and-White as they took a 25-2, 25-9 win over the Lady Indians.
Pettigrew had nine kills on nine hits with Moore dished out 13 assists and posted seven aces. Boles chipped in with five aces.
Gordon Lee (8-5) will join Gilmer for a trimatch at Ringgold on Tuesday, starting at 5 p.m.
They will return home on Thursday to host LaFayette and Armuchee.
