Gregory Lee Hutchison, of Chattanoog­a, Tenn., passed away Tuesday, Aug. 16, 2016. He was 58.

He was born in LaFayette, Ga., Sept. 21, 1957, to the late John and Charlotte Hill Hutchison.

As a young man, he was an Eagle Scout, member of Order of the Arrow. At age 13, he was the youngest Scout member to attend Philmont Scout Ranch where he hiked 100 miles.

After graduating from Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe High School he attended Tennessee Tech University. He was a lifeguard and member of the Ft. Oglethorpe swimming and diving team. He enjoyed spelunking, rappelling and had hiked part of the Appalachia­n Trail.

In his later years, he enjoyed bowling and achieved five 300 games along with numerous other awards.

He was employed with the City of Chattanoog­a and an elder and assistant treasurer at Northside Presbyteri­an Church. He was a former president of the board of directors for the Northside Learning Center and a former member of board of directors for Hope House at UTC. He was also a former member of the Chattanoog­a Bowling Associatio­n.

Survivors include: His loving wife of 38 years, Robin; son, Ian; sister, Jean (James) Wilson of Flintstone and several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the oncology staff at Memorial Hospital and Tennessee of Oncology of Chattanoog­a.

Memorial service: Sunday, Sept. 11, at 3 p.m. at Northside Presbyteri­an Church, 923 Mississipp­i Avenue, Chattanoog­a, Tenn.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Northside Presbyteri­an Church, the Hope House at UTC, the Salvation Army or the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

A private burial will be held at Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery in West Armuchee.
