LaFayette dips back to .500 in area play

The Gilmer Lady Bobcats dropped LaFayette back to .500 in Area 6-4 play with a 25-9, 22-25, 25-22 victory in Walker County last Tuesday.

Jade Maggard returned from injury and had 14 assists, five kills and eight aces for LaFayette. Karissa Tatum finished with nine kills and three blocks, while Gracie Stier added four kills, a block and an ace. Katie Dixon had five kills. Jillian Morgan and Kensly Baugh both blocked one shot and Timerra Bell added an assist.

LaFayette earns Senior Night sweep

The Lady Ramblers celebrated their senior trio of Tatum, Bell and Maggard this past Thursday night and did so by sweeping Rome and Ringgold in a trimatch in south Walker County.

LaFayette opened with a 25-23, 25-19 win over the Class 6A Lady Wolves before the sending Class 3A Lady Tigers back to Catoosa County with a 25-22, 2515 loss.

Maggard had nine digs, 31 assists, four kills and three aces on the night. Tatum finished with 11 digs, 21 kills and nine aces, while Bell collected 12 digs and one ace.

Emily Redden finished with 14 digs, two aces and a kill. Dixon had 22 digs, four kills and four aces. Stier recorded 13 digs, eight kills and an ace, while Morgan had four kills and two blocks. Baugh had one kill and Malin Thorsen had one ace.

LaFayette finishes second at Southeast

Going into their final two Area 6-4A matches of the regular season on Tuesday, the LaFayette Lady Ramblers will take some needed momentum with them to

Heritage.

LaFayette went 5-1 at the Southeast Whitfield Raider Rally on Saturday, winning their first five matches in straight sets before a tough three-set loss to Gilmer in the championsh­ip.

The Lady Ramblers defeated Sonoravill­e (26-24, 25-22), Christian Heritage (25-10, 25-20), Dalton (27-25, 25-21) and North Murray (25-14, 2516) before taking down Southeast (25-20, 25-18) in the semifinals.

Gilmer won the first set, 25-19, only to see LaFayette rally for a 2517 win in the second set. However, the Lady Bobcats won the tiebreaker, 15-13, to claim the title.

Tatum had a teamhigh 58 kills on the day to go with 20 digs, 15 aces and 10 blocks. Dixon added 19 kills, 19 digs and an ace, while Stier had 16 kills, nine digs and eight aces. Maggard served up 71 assists to go with 19 digs, six kills and three aces and Morgan had eight kills and a block.

Other top contributo­rs were Redden (12 digs, 11 assists, 2 kills, 2 aces, 1 block), Baugh (4 kills, 2 blocks), Bell (23 digs, 3 aces) and Thorsen (3 aces).

LaFayette (19-17, 2-2) will join Southeast for the tri-match at Heritage on Tuesday.
