GLHS 4-H student among those honored at Georgia State Fair
Dalton Green, a senior at Gordon Lee High School, is one of five Georgia 4-H youth members recognized for their community contributions by Tractor Supply Co.’s Mobile Fair Tour.
Sponsored by largest rural lifestyle retail store chain in the United States, the Mobile Fair Tour is on a 9,200-mile trip across the U.S., making 24 stops at state and county fairs, as well as select stores along the way.
The Mobile Fair Tour was at the Georgia National Fair from Oct. 13-16.
“Fairs are an important part of our customers’ lives, culture and communities, and that makes them an important venue for TSC to support and engage around,” said Tractor Supply’s Director of Store Marketing Lisa White. “We are pleased to recognize youth making a difference in their communities, embracing the self-reliant lifestyle.”
The five Georgians being acknowledged are Suzanne Palmertree (Henry County), Dalton Green (Walker County), Matthew Belville (Berrien County), Sophia Rodriguez (Liberty County) and Amelia Day (Houston County).
Through 4-H, these students have made impactful contributions to their communities. From holding leadership positions to participation in various competitions and fundraisers, they embody the true spirit of the organization.
“I love 4-H so much and am incredibly blessed to call my fellow 4-H’ers family,” said Sophia Rodriguez. “I wouldn’t be who I am today without this organizations and hope I can continue to contribute to its success by motivating future members to always put their best foot forward.”
Green has participated in 4-H and livestock showing for the last 12 years. He raises and shows Hereford cattle and has even started a herd of registered Hereford cattle out of past show heifers.
He has held numerous leadership positions with 4-H including serving on the district Senior 4-H board of directors and president of the Junior 4-HB board of directors. Currently, he is serving as the Walker County 4-H County Council president.
