Iva Glynice Roach, 62 Flintstone

Iva Glynice Roach, Flintstone, Ga., went to be with the Lord Saturday, Nov. 19, 2016. She was 62.

She was of the Christian faith and attended Light House Church in Charleston, Tenn.

She loved to shop and spending time with family.

She attended Dalton State College and loved being able to learn something new every day.

She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Fred and Frances Clabough; one brother, William “Case” Clabough.

Survivors include: Her husband, Larry Roach, of Flintstone; daughters, Angela Crowder, of Riceville, Tenn., Holly Elliott, of Ringgold; one sister, Dawn Stone, of Knoxville, Tenn.; two grandchild­ren, Brittany Lane and Zachary Crowder; two great-grandchild­ren, Caleb and Eliza Lane.

Ruby “Jo” Morton Daniels, 80 Flintstone

Ruby “Jo” Morton Daniels, of Flintstone, Ga., passed away at a local healthcare facility Friday, Nov. 18, 2016. She was 80.

She was born in Clay County, Ala., Aug. 11, 1936, but grew up in DeKalb County, Ala. She is a graduate of Ider High School class of 1954. She has been a resident of Chattanoog­a Valley/ Flintstone area since late 1954.

She was of the Baptist faith.

She was employed at Davenport Hosiery Mill for several years until the company closed. She then worked for Mar Mode Hosiery Mill for several years until she went to work at Carta, which she retired from after approximat­ely 20 years of service.

She was preceded in death by her parents, WM. Orville, and Lessie Boggs Morton; two brothers, Lowell and Lawrence (Larry) Morton; sister, Hazel Morton and beloved niece, Monica James.

Survivors include: Her children, daughter, Darlene Mansfield of Flintstone; son, Alan (Selina) Daniels of Rossville, Ga.; sisters, Virginia Daniels of Flintstone, Ga. and Peggy (Earl) James of Marietta, Ga.; six nephews and five nieces, as well as eighteen grand nieces and nephews.

Visitation: Sunday, Nov. 20, from 2-8 p.m. at Wilsons Funeral Home.

Funeral service: Monday, Nov. 21, at 11 a.m. in the chapel at Wilsons Funeral Home with Bro. Steve Moss officiatin­g.

Burial: Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery near Fyffe, Ala. at 2:30 p.m. EST.

James “Cheese” Clayton Goins, 84 Ringgold

James “Cheese” Clayton Goins, of Ringgold, Ga., passed away Monday, Nov. 21, 2016. He was 84.

A native of Athens, Tenn., he has lived in the Ringgold area for most of his life.

James was a former employee of Sweetwater Rug Company where he worked for 14 years and was of the Baptist faith.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Campbell Duck and Mary Ann Burton Goins; two sons, Charles and Gary Goins; two sisters, Betty Roden and Inez Peeler; and five brothers, Virgil, Bo, Henry, Bob and Bill Goins.

Survivors include: Six children, Debbie Tweed of Chattanoog­a, Tenn., Teresa Goins of Ringgold, Ga., Jimmy Goins of Ringgold, Ga., Janice Wint of Rock Spring, Ga., Carolyn Goins of East Ridge, Tenn. and Lisa Goins of Ringgold, Ga.; sister, Sally Wilcox of Athens, Tenn.; 19 grandchild­ren; several great-grandchild­ren; nieces and nephews.

Visitation: Wednesday, Nov. 23, from 3-8 p.m. and Friday from 9 a.m. until funeral time at the funeral home.

Funeral service: Friday, Nov. 25, 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Bro. Dennis Goins officiatin­g.

Lula Lurain“Mimi” Croft Crumley, 92 Fort Oglethorpe

Lula Lurain “Mimi” Croft Crumley, of Fort Oglethorpe, Ga., passed away peacefully Thursday, Nov. 24, 2016, in her sleep and was carried on angels wings to Jesus feet where her husband was waiting on her and saw her son, mother, father and many loved ones that have gone on before. She was 92.

She was born in Oneida, Tenn., to the late Glenn E. and Annie Mae Smith Croft. She had resided most of her life in Northwest Georgia.

She was a former supervisor with SeAnn Portraits. She was a member of Canaan Baptist Church in East Lake, Tenn.

Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of almost 70 years, Ralph E. Crumley Sr.; their son, Ronald E. Crumley; daughter-in-law, Yvonne Crumley.

Survivors include: Her daughter, Janice Crumley of Rossville, Ga.; sons, Ralph “Rick” E. (Cherry) Crumley Jr. of Chickamaug­a, Ga., and Terrell “Terry” (Janie) W. Crumley of Red Bank, Tenn.; several grandchild­ren; great-grandchild­ren; two great-greatgrand­children; nieces and nephews.

Gracie Nell Barnes Lockhart Harper, 90 Ringgold

Gracie Nell Barnes Lockhart Harper, of Ringgold, Ga., passed away Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2016, at Parkridge East Hospital. She was 90.

Gracie retired from her nursing career in Florence, Ala. in 1990 and moved to Ringgold to live with her daughter and sonin-law where she was involved in caring for the whole family.

She was a member of Ringgold First Baptist Church where she had many friends who she loved within the church.

Gracie was known and loved dearly by numerous friends and family members in Ga., Ala. and Tenn. She will be remembered by all as a person who truly loved and cared about people, especially her family. She would do anything she could to help and comfort whoever was in need.

She is preceded in death by her first husband, James Vatus Lockhart; second husband, Thomas A. Harper; son, James Donald Lockhart; stepdaught­er, Yvonne Harper Burns and her husband James Burns; step son, Samuel G. Harper; parents, Jesse and Viva Pugh Barnes; an infant brother; five sisters, Nota Barnes, Estelle McFall, Odell Mobley, Effie Barnes and Earline Mobley.

Survivors include: Daughter, Sandra (Daniel) Gandy of Ringgold, Ga.; son, Jesse Wayne (Tita) Lockhart of Goochland, Va.; daughter-in-law, Sherry Lockhart of Florence, Ala.; two step sons, Douglas (Charlotte) Harper of Florence, Ala. and Aaron Harper of Florence, Ala.; step-daughter, Margaret Harper of Florence, Ala.; six grandchild­ren, Julie Lockhart Ogle, Stephen (Dana) Lockhart, Joshua (Michelle) Gandy, Kelly Gandy Hester, Karen (Zack) Lockhart, Lolly Leslie Lockhart and Jimmy (Sherea) Burns; six greatgrand­children, Jessica Ogle, Jack Ogle, Isabel Hester, Madelyn Hester, Everett Gandy and Alyssa Lolly; several stepgrandc­hildren; several nieces and nephews.

William Leroy Crain, 96 Chattanoog­a

William Leroy Crain, of Chattanoog­a, Tenn., passed away Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2016. He was 96.

He was born in Delaware County, Okla., to the late Arthur and Martha Ann Crain but had lived many years in Albertvill­e, Ala. and also Washington State.

He was an Army Veteran having served at Pearl Harbor during W.W. II and worked most of his life as an Electrical Contractor.

He loved gambling and going to Tunica, Miss. and Vegas.

He was preceded in death by his son, William Crain Jr. and first wife, Hazel Crain.

Survivors include: His wife, Frances Duane Crain of East Ridge, Tenn.; daughter, Karen Lloyd of Bonita Springs, Fla.; sister, Maxine Davidson and granddaugh­ter, Cynthia Ann Dilg.

Burial will be private and there will be no visitation at the funeral home.

Luther “Gene” Eugene Hicks, 69 Chickamaug­a

Luther “Gene” Eugene Hicks, of Chickamaug­a, Ga., went home to be with The Lord Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2016. He was 69.

He was a loving husband, father and grandfathe­r.

He was born in Jackson County, Ala., to the late Luther Edward and Katie Mae Huckabee Hicks. Gene has resided in the Chickamaug­a area for most of his life where he enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, riding horses, dirt bikes and four wheelers.

He worked for Synthetic Industries of Chickamaug­a after 34 years of employment and retired as supervisor. He was a First Responder with Walker County and enjoyed helping others. Such as, helping with Food Drives, Toy Collection­s for children at Christmas and any charitable events he could help with.

He was a member of Way of the Cross Baptist Church in Kensington, Ga.

Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Jerry Wayne Hicks, Jimmy Hicks, William Lester Hicks, Kenneth Hicks and James Harley Hicks.

Survivors include: His wife of 50 years, Erlene Lou Raines Hicks; their children, Katie Renea (Michael) Tompkins, Timothy Eugene (Angie) Hicks all of Chickamaug­a, Ga., Charles Lee (Sarah) Hicks of Rossville, Ga.; brothers, Charles Lee (Nellie) Hicks of Rising Fawn, Ga., James Larry Hicks of Chickamaug­a, Ga.; grandchild­ren, Christophe­r Michael and Christian Eugene Tompkins, Madison Mae and Colton Aaron Timothy Hicks; several nieces and nephews.

Visitation: Friday, Nov. 25, from 6-8 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 26, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday morning, Nov. 27, after 10 a.m. prior to the service.

Funeral service: Sunday, Nov. 27, at 2 p.m. in the chapel with Rev. Oscar Stapp and Rev. Grady Davidson officiatin­g.

David Laurence Nylander Jr., of LaFayette, Ga., passed away Friday, Nov. 18, 2016. He was 52.

He was employed with Syntec Industries in LaFayette for four years.

Survivors include: His fiancé, Rebecca Linam; his parents, David L. Nylander Sr. and Verna Marie Starke Nylander; daughters, Becky Nylander and Ashley Nylander; son, David Nylander; stepdaught­er, Chasity Spurlock; sister, Sheri (Dallas) Eisenhauer; six grandchild­ren; several nieces and nephews.

Christophe­r “Chris” Ray Ashley, of Rossville, Ga., passed away Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2016. He was 47.

He was born April 4, 1969, to the late Olin Ray Ashley and Beatrice “Billie” Burt Ashley.

Chris enjoyed listening to country music and was an avid Crimson Tide fan.

Survivors include: His two sisters, Debbie Poplin of Rossville and Jackie Hegwood of Rock Spring; a nephew, Jeff Hooper, and a great-nephew, Nick Hooper.

Kelia Shenea Ball, of LaFayette, Ga., passed away Thursday, Nov. 17, 2016, surrounded by her family. She was 37.

Vicki Lynn Howard White, Rossville, Ga., passed away Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2016. She was 56.

She was born in Bridgeport, Ala. but

lived in the North Georgia area for most of her life and was of the Baptist faith.

She was an avid gardener, loved the outdoors and her plants. She was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother and grandmothe­r that will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her father, Billy E. Howard; grandparen­ts, Lonnie and Amanda Peoples and Frank and Kate Howard.

Survivors include: Her husband, David White; mother and step-father, Henrietta Cruse and Eddie Cruse; daughter, Jessica (Matt) Huggins; sons, Jason Goforth and Josh (Crystal) Goforth; brothers and sisters-in-law, Scott (Carol) Howard, Billy (Stacy) Howard, Alan Cruse, Tim Cruse and Lisa Poss; grandson, Cadance Goforth; niece, Lonee Howard; numerous extended family and friends.

Judith Carol Jarvis Shelton, 72 Rossville

Judith Carol Jarvis Shelton, of Rossville, Ga., died Monday, Nov. 21, 2016. She was 72.

Born Dec. 6, 1943, she lived in the Chattanoog­a and North Georgia areas as well as Ill. and Minn. She graduated LaFayette High School, class of 1961, and Rock Valley College, in Rockford, Ill., class of 1976, before settling in Rossville.

She was a member of The Rossville 7th Day Adventist Church where she served in many capacities as well as church clerk for 23 years and Deaconess.

She retired from Lookout Mt. Community Services.

Her interests other than church and family include quilting, photograph­y, scrapbooki­ng and genealogy research. She will be missed by all whose lives she impacted over the years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William Jarvis and Alma Ruth Noel; maternal grandparen­ts, Elbert and Emma Lee Massengale; paternal grandparen­ts, Lewis and Allie Jarvis; brother, Kenneth L. Jarvis.

Survivors include: Her children, Michael Hicks of Rossville, Janet (Alex) Roach and Charles Shelton of Chickamaug­a; siblings, Marilyn (Howard) Hunt of Dalton, Ga., Edward Lamar Jarvis

of Margate, Fla., Scott (Lynn) Noel of Trion, Ga.; granddaugh­ters, Alexis (Josh) Rheal, Emilee Roach, Jessica (Chase) Bell, Brittany Scoggins-Collins, LaCynda McFalls and Michayla Hicks; nine great-grandchild­ren.

Visitation: Friday, Nov. 25, from 1-8 p.m. and Saturday morning until the service at 2 p.m. at the funeral home.

Funeral service: Saturday, Nov. 26, 2 p.m. in the Fort Oglethorpe Chapel with Elder David King officiatin­g.
