Lady Eagles wrap up South Region top seed

The Oakwood Christian Lady Eagles closed out the regular season with three straight victories last week as they built momentum for this week’s Southern Christian Athletic Associatio­n South Region tournament in Collegedal­e.

Oakwood girls 48, Mountain View Christian 10

Last Monday night in Chickamaug­a, senior Tori Hall led the way with 18 points on Senior Night to go with six rebounds and eight steals. Ashley Keith had 12 points. Annika Green finished with eight points and 15 rebounds, while Kylie Hall had just two points, but dished out nine assists.

Oakwood girls 48, Rhea County Academy 20

One night later, in Dayton, Tenn., Green torched the Lady Warriors for 26 points, adding nine rebounds and collecting three steals.

Tori Hall filled up her stat sheet with eight points, six rebounds, nine assists and six steals. Kylie Hall had seven points, six assists and six steals. Maddie Lewis added four points and grabbed five rebounds, while Madi Phillips added three points.

Oakwood girls 32, CAYA 22

On Thursday, the Lady Eagles closed out an 11-8 regular season with a win in Collegedal­e.

Kylie Hall stayed hot for OCA with 14 points. She also added six steals and blocked two shots. Tori Hall also had a big game with eight points, eight rebounds, five assists and 10 steals.

Green added six points and five boards. Lewis scored two points, but pulled down nine rebounds, while Phillips closed out the scoring with two points.

Oakwood, the South Region champion will open the tournament on Tuesday against Mountain View Christian at 7 p.m. The finals are set for Thursday at 6.

The top two teams from the South Region tournament will advance to the SCAA Final Four, to be held the following week at the Rossville Athletic Center.
