Ridgeland rifle team takes down Cass
Ridgeland High School’s riflery team outshot Cass, 1,039-813, on Saturday morning. The Panthers were led by Tyler Atchison, who recorded a season-high score of 278 (out of 300).
Martin Camlic was second on the team with a 260, followed by Savannah Carroll (257) and Daniel Barrett (244). Also shooting for Ridgeland was Lee Crabtree (243) and Herbert Bradley (221).
Ramblers seventh in regional competition
The LaFayette High School rifle team competed in a twoday Southeastern U.S. match over the weekend against teams from Florida to Texas. It marked the first major match that the LHS team has ever competed in as a team. LaFayette finished seventh overall.
Alyssa Kiser was 12th overall with a score of 1,145 (out of a perfect 1,200). Emma Sargeant was the 13th overall shooter with a 1,146. Freshman Logan Massingill shot a 1,107, followed by Emiley Jenkins (1,081) and Kayla Godfrey (1,078).
“First Sergeant Tomlinson and I are very proud of the way the team performed and behaved while representing LHS,” head coach Perry Fouts said.
LaFayette will host Ridgeland in a match on Thursday at the LHS indoor shooting range.
