GOP “Good Citizen Scholarship” available for high school seniors
High school seniors living in Walker County are eligible to apply for a “Good Citizen Scholarship” provided by the Walker County Republican Party. With an interest in promoting high educational standards and good citizenship practices, at least three $1,000 scholarships will be awarded during the month of May at the end of 2016-17 school year.
To be eligible, seniors must have a 3.0 grade point average on a scale of 4.0, live in Walker County and submit a statement of “Why you love this country and how you will contribute to its wellbeing.”
Applicants must also provide two reference forms from teachers, provide proof of acceptance to a college or tech school, submit an official high school transcript, submit ACT/SAT scores and complete an application packet with all attachments included.
“The Republican Party is pleased to invest in the future of our youth by offering these scholarships,” said Walker County Republican Chairman, Matt Williamson. “We hope to encourage students to become involved voting citizens while reaching their full educational potential.”
Application packets are available in the guidance counselor’s office at each of the county’s high schools or by sending a written request to: Scholarship Committee, P.O. Box 145, Flintstone, Ga. 30725.
Deadline to submit an application is Friday, April 7, 2017.
