James Miller “Samp” Jackson, 83, LaFayette

Mr. James Miller “Samp” Jackson, age 83, of LaFayette, Ga., passed away Wednesday, Mar. 1, 2017.

He was a U. S. Army Veteran, a member of Prospect Baptist Church, and retired from Core of Engineerin­g.

James was born on Mar. 20, 1933, son of the late Oscar Jim Jackson and Violet Robbs Jackson.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Dorothy Jackson, and brothers, Donald Jackson, and Chester Jackson.

Survivors include: his son, James David Jackson of Cleveland, Tenn.; grandchild­ren, Ericka and Kimberly Jackson; three greatgrand­children; sister, Lillie Mae Griffin; brothers, Billy Joe Jackson, Marvin (Betty) Jackson, all of LaFayette, Ga.; sisterin-law, Carolyn Jackson of Chattanoog­a, Tenn.; aunts, Martha Harris of LaFayette, and Robbie Anderson of New York; uncles, James Morgan “Deed” Robbs of Dalton, Ga., Alvin Q. Robbs of Sidney, Ohio; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

Visitation: Tuesday evening at the church from 6-7 p.m. His remains will lie in state at the church one hour before the service.

Funeral service: Wednesday, Mar. 8, at 1 p. m. at Prospect Baptist Church, 194 Prospect Road, LaFayette, Ga. with Pastor Jeffery Scott Copeland, Rev. Archie Jackson Jr. and other ministers officiatin­g.

Burial: Chattanoog­a National Cemetery.

Robert Edward “Eddie” White, 65, Rock Spring

Robert Edward “Eddie” White, age 65, of Rock Spring, Ga., went home to be with the Lord Tuesday afternoon, Feb. 28, 2017.

He was born in LaFayette, Ga. to the late Robert Earl White and Fannie Ruth Parker White. He had resided in Rock Spring, Ga. for most of his life.

He was a retired lieutenant with The State of Georgia Department of Correction­s where he served as Chaplain for the Georgia Correction Officers Associatio­n. Eddie was the former owner/operator of White Trucking Company in Rock Spring, Ga. He was also a former Georgia Emergency Medical Technician with Wilson Ambulance Service. Eddie served as police officer in LaFayette, Walker County Sheriff’s Department and Fort Oglethorpe.

He was a member of Center Grove Baptist Church in Rock Spring, Ga.

He enjoyed camping and woodworkin­g.

Survivors include: his daughters, Maranda White of Rossville, Ga., Amy White Perry of Rock Spring, Ga.; grandchild­ren, Robert Lane Perry, Elizabeth “Libby” Perry and Emma Sweeten.

Visitation: Saturday from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. prior to the service.

Funeral service: 1 p.m. Saturday, Mar. 4, in the chapel with Pastor David Brown officiatin­g.

Bertha Mae Smith, 89, Rossville

Bertha Mae Smith, 89, of Rossville, Ga., passed away Thursday, Mar. 2, 2017, at her home.

Mrs. Smith enjoyed growing flowers, singing, cooking and drove her car until she was 88. She was of the Church of God faith.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James “Bart” Smith; sons, Larry Joe Kilgore and William “Billy” Kilgore; daughter, Brenda Cameron and several brothers and sisters.

Survivors include: her daughter, Charlotte A. (Donald) Feagans; sister, Louise Broome; brother, Buford Underwood; several grandchild­ren, greatgrand­children, greatgreat-grandchild­ren and nieces and nephews.

Visitation: Monday from 11 a.m.-8 p.m. at the South Crest Chapel.

Lola R. Wright, 77, of Rossville, Ga., went home to be with the Lord Thursday, Mar. 2, 2017.

She was an active member and loved her church family at Westside Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Wright; parents, James and Stella Cartwright; son, Gregory Wilson; step-grandson, Aaron Wright.

Survivors include: her daughter, Julie Taylor of Rossville, Ga.; step-sons, Charles Wright of Rossville, Ga., Ronald Wright of Jasper, Tenn.; brother, Wayne H. Cartwright of Birchwood, Tenn.; sisters, Claudette (Jim) Roberson of Whitwell, Tenn. and Clara Houdek of Chattanoog­a, Tenn.; she was affectiona­tely known as “Mamaw Lola” to Jason and Wesley Ambrosio, Erica Clemons, Patrick Wilson, Aaron and Justin Pressnell, Sarah Hicks, Savannah Yarber, Shadow Pate; eight great-grandchild­ren; several nieces and nephews and numerous close friends.

Ruby Lee Raley Butler, 85, of Lookout Mountain, Ga., passed away Saturday, Mar. 4, 2017.

A resident of the Lookout Mtn. area she was born in Browntown, Ala.

She is a former employee of Warren Hudson where she worked for 14 years and was a member of Paynes Chapel United Methodist Church.

She is preceded in death by her father, James Erskin Raley; mother, Ollie Mae Kay Veal; two sisters, Virginia Inez Castro and Jessie Brown; and two brothers, James Raley and Billy Veal.

Mildred Gloria McAllister Bramlett, 85, of Ringgold, Ga., passed away Sunday, Mar. 5, 2017.

A lifelong resident of the Ringgold area, she was a former employee of Russell Chenille and was of the Baptist faith.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Harold Bramlett; parents, Judson Dewey and Ruby Louise Gordy McAllister; two sisters, Dorothy McDade and Mary Lee Kendrick; and two brothers, Ralph and Kenneth McAllister.

Survivors include: two daughters, Diane (Vernon) Bramlett of Ringgold, Ga., and Judy (Jack) Brisendine of Rossville, Ga.; sister, Margie (Lillard) Stringer of Tunnel Hill, Ga.; brother, Bryan (Wanda) McAllister of Ringgold, Ga.; grandson, Christophe­r (Melanie) Bramlett; two greatgrand­children, Matthew and Sarah Bramlett; several nieces and nephews.

Barbara Joyce Clark Anderson, 82, Ringgold

Barbara Joyce Clark Anderson, 82, of Ringgold, Ga., went home to be with her Lord and Savior Wednesday, March 8, 2017.

She lived in the North Georgia area all of her life where she drove a school bus for Catoosa County Schools for eleven years.

Mrs. Anderson was the oldest member of Midway Baptist Church and was known as the “Mother of the Church”. She was a loving mother, granny and friend who will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Hilda Clark; husband, Johnny Anderson; grandson, Stephen Lewis Palmer Jr.; daughter-in-law, Debi Anderson.

Survivors include: her children, Jay (Cathy) Anderson, Gene (Barbara) Anderson, Jimmy Anderson, Steve (Vicki) Anderson, Stella (Jerry) Rozzell, Lisa (Stephen) Palmer, Keena (Willie) Hodge; siblings, Billie Ann Mabry, William B. (Jane) Clark, Jenell Shipp, Wanda (Tommy) Pierce; she was known as “Granny Bobbie” to 18 grandchild­ren and 25 great-grandchild­ren; several nieces and nephews and all who knew her.

Charles S. “Buddy” Perry, 91, of Flintstone, Ga., passed away Sunday, Mar. 5, 2017, in a local health care facility.

He was a native and lifelong resident of the Chattanoog­a area and retired from U.S. Pipe & Foundry with more than thirty years of service.

Mr. Perry was preceded in death by his parents, Hubert and Marie Perry; sister, Martha Stone and brother, Hubert Perry Jr.; nieces, Anna M. Hill and Pamela Lane and nephew, Edgar J. Stone, III.

There will be no visitation at the funeral home.

Survivors include: his niece, Lynn Hicks; nephews, Hubert Perry, III and Steve Perry; several great-nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews.

Private graveside services will be held Friday, Mar. 10 at 1 p.m. at Forest Hills Cemetery.
