Skid continues for LaFayette

After a 5-2 start to the 2017 campaign, the season took a downturn for the LaFayette Ramblers last week as two losses to LFO and a loss to Chattooga have dropped the Orangeand-Black under .500 for the season as they begin region play starting this week. combined on a nohitter. The Ramblers prevented the shutout by scratching out two runs in the top of the seventh.

A.J. Buck was credited with an RBI for LaFayette. The Ramblers struck out 12 times, but left seven runners on base during the game. They also committed five errors on defense.

Freshman Trent Currie took the loss. He threw three innings, allowing four runs on four hits and a walk. He finished with four strikeouts and none of the four runs were earned.

Ethan Stephenson and Caleb Trammell combined to throw three innings of relief.

Chattooga 18, LaFayette 4

The Ramblers saw their record even up at .500 following a non-region loss to the Indians on Thursday, Details were not provided as of press time.

LFO 9, LaFayette 8

Kaleb Soward belted a go-ahead two-run homer in the bottom of the sixth inning and the Warriors outlasted the Ramblers in a wild contest Friday night in Fort Oglethorpe.

The game was originally scheduled to be played in LaFayette, but had to be moved due to wet field conditions.

It was all Warriors (7-4) through five innings as the home team scored twice in both the second and third innings before adding a solo run in the fifth.

But the Ramblers (5-6) would erupt in the top of the sixth to score eight runs and take an 8-5 lead. Logan Teasley and Stephenson had

two RBIs in the inning, while Jack Martin and Brady Anderson each plated one run.

However, LFO would answer with a pair of runs in the bottom half of the inning before Soward’s shot put the Warriors back in front, this time for good.

Anderson finished with three hits, while Buck had two hits, scored twice and knocked in two runs.

Daniel, the fifth of six pitchers used by the Warriors, picked up the win with Jarrett McAfee working the seventh for the save.

Buck, the third of four pitchers used by the Ramblers, took the loss. Ty Fisher threw the first five innings for LaFayette, allowing five runs - two earned - on seven hits and a walk with three strikeouts.

LaFayette will finally open their Region 6-AAAA schedule at home against Southeast Whitfield at 5:55 p.m. on Tuesday. They will conclude the threegame series with the Raiders with a doublehead­er in Dalton on Friday, starting at 5:30.
