Track: Gordon Lee dominates three-team home meet

The Gordon Lee High School boys’ track team won all but two events and dominated the final standings in a three-team meet at home on Thursday.

Gordon Lee finished with 115 points, with LFO a distant second at 24. Dade County was third with 14 points.

Drew Cobb won the pole vault and 100 meters, while Jasper Wilson won the 800 and set a new personal-best of 4:57 in winning the 1600.

Other single-event winners included Justin Collins (3200), Nathaniel Wright (high jump), Makinnon Young (200), Bailey Burns (400), Sam McKeehan (discus) and Donnie Dees (triple jump).

Wright, Young, Cobb and Logan Hill also teamed up to win the 4x100 relay.

Nick Culpepper was LFO’s lone winner as he took first in the shot put and Noah Roberts won the 300 hurdles for Dade County.

The Lady Trojans were just slightly less dominant as they won nine events and amassed 87 points. LFO (47) was second with Dade County (13) bringing up the rear.

Addison Whitman won the pole vault and the 400, while Gracie O’Neal took first in the 800 and the 1600. Taylor Hunley also won twice, taking first in the 100 hurdles and 300 hurdles.

Kate Gilliam won the 3200 and Gracey Kruse claimed the high jump title. Whitman, O’Neal, Kruse and Sam Belue also teamed up to win the 4x100.

The Lady Warriors had two winners in Anna Roundtree (discus) and Kaliea Allen (shot put).
