NGAC Baseball: LaFayette, Gordon Lee pick up early season victories

The LaFayette Middle School baseball team needed just five innings to beat Saddle Ridge 13-1 this past Thursday and claim their first victory of the season.

Skylar Cepeda would get the win for the Ramblers as he allowed just one hit and three walks in four innings. He finished with four strikeouts.

Davis Richardson paced the offense with three hits, including a double, and five RBIs. Dylan Deering was 3-for-4 with a triple and three RBIs, while Blake Mann was 3-for-4 with a double and four runs scored.

Cade Fisher also joined the three-hit club as he added two RBIs and three runs scored. Ethan Adams had a double, stole a base and scored twice.

Avery Sullivan had the lone RBI for the Mustangs, while Nick Radtke doubled in the loss. Sullivan was also saddled with the loss on the mound.

Gordon Lee 5, LaFayette 0

A cool, windy March afternoon greeted the Trojans as they opened the 2017 baseball season with a victory at LaFayette on Friday.

Gordon Lee (1-0) had just six hits, but managed to scratch home runs in the third, fifth and sixth innings to pick up the win. Jake Poindexter kept the Ramblers off the board as he struck out eight hitters in just four hitless innings. He also got it done at the plate by going 2-for-3 with two

RBIs.

Reliever Dylan Burnett allowed only two hits and fanned four in three innings of work, while Grayson Smith, Brody Cobb, Jacob Neal and Cade Peterson all picked up hits.

Gordon Lee also swiped seven bases as a team. Logan Simerely had two to lead the Navy-and-White.

Richardson was saddled with the loss for LaFayette. He went 4.2 innings, giving up four runs on five hits with five strikeouts. Cody Cook and Cepeda had the only two hits for LaFayette (1-1).
