Dendy adds to his Georgia Kids’ State collection

Wrestlers representi­ng the Gordon Lee Middle School Wrestling Club recently competed in the Georgia Girls’ State Tournament and the Georgia Kids’ State Tournament.

Garrison Dendy collected his sixth Kids’ State title when he won the 14-under 115-pound crown. Dendy opened with a 34-second pin of Zani Patasin III of St. Pius X before a 6-4 win over C.J. Murphy of Compound Wrestling. He then got past Tristian Kendall of Gilmer in the finals, 1-0.

Bryce James (14-under, 85 pounds) placed fourth, while Dylan Burnette (14-under, 210 pounds) was sixth. Dylan Crawford (12-under, 140 pounds), Penn Askew (14-under, 95 pounds) and Kameron Oliver (14-under, 150 pounds) all finished in the top eight, but did not place. Conner Fine (14-under, 90 pounds) also wrestled, but did not place.

In the 6-under, 40-pound class, Cooper Saine took third place. Saine lost in the finals and was later defeated in a match for true second place.

Noah Brown (10-under, 55 pounds) and Landon Brown (10-under, 64 pounds) both competed, but did not place.

Big and Little Kids’ State was held at the Lakepoint Complex in Cartersvil­le this past weekend.

At Girls’ State, held Feb. 18 at Life University in Marietta, Kameron Burnette placed second in the middle school 81-89-pound division, while Haley Hartman was second and MaKayden Martin third in the middle school 97-pound division.

Bryanna Goldsmith finished fourth in the middle school 105-pound division, while Kylie Lathem was sixth in the middle school 97-pound division.
