Walker County golfers beginning to round into form as April approaches

- By Scott Herpst

The lightning and storms that moved into the northwest Georgia area this past Tuesday evening brought a premature end to the Lady Rambler Invitational at the LaFayette Golf Course.

With players beginning the tournament with a scattered start, only six common holes had been played once the tournament was suspended. At that point, the coaches agreed to use the Stableford scoring system on those six holes to determine the winner.

The Stableford system is a point-based system that assigns a point value for bogeys, pars, birdies and eagles.

Using that system, Dalton won the tournament with 49 points, led by Katelyn Skiffen, who had the best individual score at 22.

Calhoun finished runner-up at 45, followed by North Murray at 40, Gordon Lee at 38 and LaFayette at 25. Heritage (22), Gordon Central (18) and Carrollton (13) rounded out the field.

Macall Miller of Gordon Lee tied for fourth overall with 19 points.
