Middle School Soccer: Saddle Ridge splits with Rossville

The Saddle Ridge Mustangs got a measure of revenge from a season-opening loss to Rossville by beating the Bulldogs, 4-3, in a rematch on Thursday in Rock Spring.

Karson Ledford picked up the hat trick, while Max Bowman scored once for the Navy-and-Red. Lake Johnson had five saves in net playing behind a defense, led by Dylan Parker, Zach Jonjock and Hunter Prescott.

Evan Ferguson scored a pair of goals for Rossville, while Preston Homsonbath tallied one.

Saddle Ridge boys 3, Dade County 3

Last Monday saw the Mustangs settle for tie with the Wolverines at home.

Ledford and Landon Plank scored in the first half as the home team took a 2-1 lead at intermissi­on. Dade County scored twice in the second half to take the lead, but a corner kick late in the match found the head of Bowman, who knocked in the equalizer.

Head coach Ben Scoggins praised Johnson for his play in goal.

Rossville girls 1, Saddle Ridge 0

The Lady Bulldogs also got their revenge for an early-season loss to Saddle Ridge and picked up their first win of the season on Thursday.

Thanya Rodriguez scored in the second half for Rossville on a penalty kick and keeper Lynnsey Strickland made the goal stand up as she recorded the shutout.

Saddle Ridge girls 1, Dade County 0

Zoe Haggard found the net in the 55th minute and the Lady Mustangs made it hold up in a victory over Dade County in Rock Spring last Monday.

Head coach Susan Key named Kaycie Brackett and Winter Johnson has defensive standouts, while Kerri Green came up with several excellent saves in goal for the Lady Mustangs, including several in the closing minutes.

Ringgold 6, Rossville 0

The Lady Bulldogs fell to the Lady Tigers Monday afternoon in Ringgold. Joanna Medlin had four goals and an assist for the winners.

The boys’ match ended in a 0-0 tie. No further details were provided.

Chatt. Valley girls 2, Ringgold 1

The Lady Eagles went on the road this past Thursday evening and got two second-half goals in a win over the Lady Tigers. Ria Cox

scored six minutes into the second half, while Sydney Coats knocked home the game-winner 13 minutes later.

Head coach Eric Stevens gave credit to Kilie Wilson, Anastasia Burkhart and Annabelle Casto for strong midfield support and to Meadow Duhm for her leadership of defense.

Keeper Riley McBee had three saves in the victory.

Details on the boys’ match had not yet been provided.

Chattanoog­a Valley also hosted Heritage last Monday and suffered a sweep. The Lady Eagles lost 3-0, while the Eagles were handed a 10-0 defeat.
