A lifelong resident of the Ringgold, Chattanoog­a area, she was a former employee for the Littles family – who were the founder’s of Double Cola, where she was a private nurse/ sitter and was of the Christian faith.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Trotter; parents, Eugene and Esther Waters Parton and two brothers, Kenneth and Donald Parton.

Survivors include: two sons, Ernie (Amanda) Cranfield of Ringgold, Ga. and Steven (Ashley) Carter of Ft. Oglethorpe, Ga.; grandson, Will Henderson and beloved pets, Toby and Betty Lou.

Graveside service: Thursday, April 6, at 2 p.m. at Anderson Memorial Gardens in Ringgold, Ga.

Maybell S. Howard, 95, LaFayette

Maybell S. Howard, of LaFayette, Ga., passed away peacefully at her home with her children by her side Friday, March 31, 2017. She was 95.

She was born April 15, 1921, to the late John Stewart and Eunice Brock Stewart.

Maybell was a LaFayette High School graduate and a member of the First Baptist Church of LaFayette for over 60 years and a member of the Walraven Sunday School Class.

Maybell worked until the age of 70 as the lunch room manager of the LaFayette Middle School.

She was a wonderful mother and grandmothe­r and will be missed greatly by all who knew her.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Marshall Howard; son, Bob Howard; sister, Sarah Sprayberry; brothers, Glenn, Ross and Fred Stewart.

Survivors include: daughters, Marty Hise and Jan Howard of LaFayette; daughterin-law, Mildred Howard of Macon, Ga.; granddaugh­ters, Kelly (Russ) Dobson of Scottsdale, Ariz., Keena (Darin) McClure and Kathryn (Joel) Ginaldi of Macon, Ga.; grandsons, Marshall and John Howard of Gainesvill­e, Fla. and Stewart (Tifinie) Hise of Ooltewah, Tenn.; twelve greatgrand­children; one great-great-grandchild; sister, Ruth Taylor of Orlando, Fla.; brother, John (June) Stewart of Fort Oglethorpe; several nieces and nephews.

Visitation: at the funeral home Sunday from 5-8 p.m.

Funeral service: Monday, April 3, at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church of LaFayette with Dr. Warren Moorhead officiatin­g.

Burial: LaFayette City Cemetery.

Pallbearer­s: grandsons.

Gwendolyn Faye Groves Amberson, 58, Chickamaug­a

Gwendolyn Faye Groves Amberson, of Chickamaug­a, Ga., went home to be with her Lord Saturday, April 1, 2017. She was 58.

She was a lifelong resident of Chickamaug­a and a member of Pathway Baptist Church.

Gwen was a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister and aunt, who will be greatly missed.

She was preceded in death by her father, Arnold Cleo Groves.

Survivors include: her loving husband of 29 years, Jimmy Amberson; son, Robby (Sissy Sharp) Groves of Chickamaug­a; mother, Betty Groves of Chickamaug­a; stepson, James Amberson of Ariz.; siblings, Gail Bagdonas of Signal Mtn. and Greg Groves of Ariz. and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation: Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. and prior to the service on Wednesday.

Funeral service: Wednesday, April 5, at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel, with Rev. Mark Smith officiatin­g.

Burial: Lakewood Memory Gardens-South.

Robert Wayne Dunn, 81, Ringgold

Robert Wayne Dunn, of Ringgold, Ga., passed away Saturday, April 1, 2017. He was 81.

He lived in the Chattanoog­a and North Georgia areas for most of his life and was of the Baptist faith.

He retired from Chattanoog­a Boiler & Tank after more than 35 years of service as a Maintenanc­e Mechanic and will be truly missed by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Etta Inez Dunn; wife, Helen Dunn; daughter, Wanda Jean McGowan and grandson, Jimmy McGowan.

Survivors include: his son, Michael Dewayne Dunn of Ringgold, Ga.; three grandchild­ren and one great-grandson.

There will be no visitation at the funeral home.

Graveside service: Tuesday, April 4, at 11 a.m. in the TennesseeG­eorgia Memorial Park.

Tami “Starr” Hawkins, Chickamaug­a

Tami “Starr” Hawkins, of Chickamaug­a, Ga., surrounded by her loving family entered the gates of heaven Monday morning, April 3, 2017, with courage and dignity she completed her battle with cancer. Throughout her illness she touched the lives of countless people with her faith and perseveran­ce.

Next to her family, the other love of her life was her job with the Walker County Extension Agency. She faithfully served the people of Walker County for 25 years and received much recognitio­n for doing so. She began her career as the UGA Cooperativ­e Extension 4-H Program Assistant where she touched the lives of thousands of children. In 2007, she became the Extension Secretary and remained there until her illness. Her work was recognized as outstandin­g when she received the GACAA Secretary of the Year award in 2007 for the state of Georgia. In 2017, she received the GAE 4-HA Outstandin­g Secretary Award. She was also inducted into the Walker County 4-H Hall of Fame in 2008. She was chairman of the Walker County Farm Bureau Women’s Committee for a number of years. Her job entailed may different aspects including working with the Cattleman’s Associatio­n and Bee Keepers Associatio­n, but her favorite job of all was bringing order to the daily tasks of the County Agents Mike Bunn and Norman Edwards. Starr was a friend and help to everyone she came in contact with.

She was preceded in death by her parents, H.M. and Peggy Wright.

Survivors include: her loving and devoted husband of 36 years, Sonny Hawkins; children, Eric Hawkins, Lee Hawkins and Carrie (Mikey) Powell; her precious granddaugh­ter, Cora Powell; sister, Linda Crow and Tena Keith. Her constant companion in life was her little dog, Joey.

Visitation: Wednesday from 2-9 p.m.

Funeral service: Thursday, April 6, at 1 p.m. in the LaFayette Chapel of Wilson Funeral Home with Rev. Steve Wells officiatin­g.

In lieu of flowers, her desire was to have donations in her memory given to the Walker County 4-H Club. P.O. Box 827, LaFayette, Ga. 30728.

Malcolm Clayton Crowder, 84, Chickamaug­a

Malcolm Clayton Crowder, of Chickamaug­a, Ga., went home to be with his Lord Wednesday, April 5, 2017. He was 84.

He was a lifelong resident of Chickamaug­a, was a longtime member of Elizabeth Lee United Methodist Church and has been attending Friendship Primitive Baptist Church in recent years.

Malcolm served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was the owner/ operator of Crowder Supply in Chickamaug­a, along with his brother for over 37 yrs.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Chester Lee and Bessie Alice Fitts Crowder; his sister, Mattie Lowe Taylor and grandson, Robert Clayton Clemons.

Survivors include: his loving wife of 63 years, Juanita Childers Crowder; children, Laura Ann (Dick) Clemons and Clay Malcolm (Denise) Crowder; brother, Chester Ray Crowder; five grandchild­ren; seven great-grandchild­ren and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation: Thursday from 5-8 p.m. and prior to the service on Friday.

Funeral service: Friday, April 7, at 3 p.m. in the funeral home chapel, with Elder Wayne Peters officiatin­g.

Burial: Chattanoog­a National Cemetery with military honors.

Carolyn Sue Eaker Sosebee, 73, Trion

Carolyn Sue Eaker Sosebee, of Trion, Ga., passed away Friday, March 31, 2017, at her residence. She was 73.

A lifelong resident of the Trion, LaFayette area she was a former employee of Imperial Cup where she worked for 15 years, a member of Ridgeway Baptist Church and a member of the Dade County Square Dancers.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Allen Chatman and Myrtle Lula Lowrance Eaker; sister, Doris Ledbetter White and brother, Allen Eaker.

Survivors include: her husband, Allen M. Sosebee of Trion, Ga.; daughter, Barry “Lynn” (David) Schlageter of Gruetli Laager, Tenn.; son, Timothy A. Sosebee of Trion, Ga.; two sisters, June Fowler and Darnell (Jerry) Osburn both of LaFayette, Ga.; former son-in-law, Eugene Ingram of LaFayette, Ga.; granddaugh­ter, Angel (Jason) Kendrick; two greatgrand­children, Jase Kendrick and Bryson Sosebee; several nieces and nephews.

Visitation: Sunday from 1-4 p.m. at the funeral home.

Funeral service: Sunday, April 2, at 4 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Steve Skates officiatin­g.
