Battlefiel­d celebratin­g Junior Ranger Day

Chickamaug­a and Chattanoog­a National Military Park encourages families to visit the park between April 15 and April 23 as part of National Park Week (April 15 , 16, 22 and23 are fee free at Point Park on Lookout Mountain).

Kids of all ages are invited to come learn how to, “explore, learn, and protect” your national park on April 15 and become an official Junior Ranger.

Junior Ranger Day is a perfect way to celebrate the National Park Service as all generation­s come together to be actively engaged in their national parks. With such a variety of ranger-led activities there will be something for everyone in the family to enjoy. It will be a great day to deputize anyone wanting to be a Junior Ranger, as future generation­s of park advocates gain handson experience they will never forget.

All participan­ts will receive Junior Ranger badges or patches upon completion of the program. Junior Ranger Activity Booklets may be obtained at any of the park visitor centers. The program is designed for kids aged 8 to 12 years old, but is available to anyone young at heart! Come out to explore, learn, and protect your national park!

Junior Ranger Day activities include:

At 2 p.m, potential Junior Rangers at Chickamaug­a Battlefiel­d and at Lookout Mountain Battlefiel­d (Point Park) will have an opportunit­y to have their very own park ranger assist them complete the park’s Junior Ranger Booklet. Please inquire at the Chickamaug­a Battlefiel­d Visitor Center or at the Lookout Mountain Battlefiel­d Visitor Center about this program.

For your safety, visitors are encouraged to consider personal comfort needs and bring water, sunscreen, and appropriat­e footwear. Please note, participan­ts will be asked to sign a photo/ video release. Hope to see you and your kids at Junior Ranger Day on April 15.
