RECREATION ·From 6-7 p.m. on Monday, April 17, the LaFayette Park and Recreation Department, 638 South Main St., is offering a Cycling 101 course for those new to riding or in need of a refresher course before you hit the road on your bike. This class will cover

the basics of making sure your bike fits you and your riding style as well as how to safely ride on the road and in a group. The preride ABC checklist to ensure your ride is safe with no mechanical issues will be reviewed.. Anyone with questions about whether their bike fits should bring it along for an assessment.This clinic, for ages 14 and up, will be taught by Trey and Julie Smith of Cycle Therapy in Rome.

COMMUNITY · The Georgia Department of Agricultur­e will conduct an egg candling class on Tuesday, April 18, at the Gordon County Agricultur­e Center in Calhoun. Those interested in obtaining an Egg Candler’s certificat­ion through this event should contact the Georgia Department of Agricultur­e at 770-5355955 to sign up for one of the two-hour training sessions. There is no cost for the training but those selling eggs off the farm are required to have an Egg Candling license/ certificat­ion.
