Jonas William “Dub” Dixon, 83, LaFayette

Mr. Jonas William “Dub” Dixon, of LaFayette, Ga., passed away on Monday, May 29, 2017. He was 83.

He was born on Aug. 10, 1933, in LaFayette, Ga., to the late Cornelius Monroe Dixon and Dorothy Mae Dixon and attended Naples Church in Menlo.

He served in the United States Army in the Korean War and retired from Shaw Industries in Dalton, Ga.

He was preceded in death by his wife of forty-nine years, Mary Elizabeth Shropshire Dixon; sons, Michael Anthony Dixon, Dave Cornelius Dixon and brother, Joe Louis Dixon.

Survivors include: his two sons, Kenneth Allen Dixon of LaFayette, Ga. and Lonnie Eugene Dixon of Dayton, Ohio; two daughters, Doris Marie Williams of LaFayette, Ga. and Jerri (Terrance) Leak of Chattanoog­a, Tenn.; sisters, Ethel McNeal, Violet Townsend, Dorisa Loveless and Virginia Hudson; brothers, Monroe Dixon, Aaron Dixon and David Dixon; a host of grandchild­ren, great-grandchild­ren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Graveside service: will be held Friday, June 2, at 10:00 a.m. at Chattanoog­a National Cemetery with Pastor Michael Montgomery officiatin­g.

His remains will lie in state at the funeral home on Thursday from 12:00 Noon until 8:00 p.m.
