Patriotic organ concert is June 27
Chattanooga Music Club presents it’s FREE 11th Annual Patriotic Organ Concert at the Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Auditorium at 399 McCallie Ave. on Tuesday, June 27.
The family friendly event begins at 7 p.m. and is open to the public.
By popular demand, the concert will feature two silent movies.
Organist John Schwandt will present a fabulous organ program along with branches of each service being recognized and honored in the program that features:
Washington Post March Posting of the Colors Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag led by Captain Mickey McCamish, USN
“The Star Spangled Banner” Margaret Abernathy, Soloist
Salute to Veterans and Active Duty Military:
Rear Adm. Vance Fry, U.S. Navy, will lead a remembrance of deceased service men and women.
“Taps” will be performed by trumpeter David Nail, followed by Abernathy performing “God Bless America” and concert selections and improvisations by Schwandt on mighty Austin Organ, the Voice of the Auditorium.
After a brief intermission, the 1918 film “The City Slicker” starring Harold Lloyd, and 1928’s Laurel & Hardy’s movie “We Faw Down” will be shown to live musical accompaniment.
Seating is firstcome, first served, and donations will be accepted.
