David Sherrod
David Sherrod went home to be with the Lord on Monday, June 5, 2017. David, born on Feb. 28, 1947, was the son of Billy and Dorothy Wright Sherrod.
He served his country during the Vietnam War as a radio technician for the U.S. Navy and earned a Purple Heart during his service.
He earned his Masters Degree in Science in 1991 and taught Special Education Math in Tennessee as well as Georgia retiring in 2013.
An avid golfer, he managed to play golf in 38 countries while on tour for the U.S. Navy.
He worked at BlackCreek Golf Club in Chattanooga, Tenn. and became friends with many of the members often playing a round of golf with these special people that came into his life.
He married the love of his life, Lynn Shell Sherrod on July 24, 2009.
He had one sister, Cheryl Jordan Spitz of Tallahassee, Fla. and three precious children, Kim Brown, Albertsville, Ala., Stephanie Ann (Bill) Jones, Guntersville, Ala. and David Andrew (Mary) Krebsbach of Memphis, Tenn. and stepdaughter, Sabrina (David) Bruce of Chattanooga, Tenn.; 7 grandchildren; 12 greatgrandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation: Family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 6-8 p.m.
Funeral service: Friday, June 9, at 2 p.m. in the Wilbanks Memorial Chapel.
Burial: in LaFayette City Cemetery.
Pallbearers: Jordan Douglas, Dan Webster, Lamar Wright, Doc Whitfield, Buddy Jacobs, Darrell Shell.
