Why are “things to do” good for our county?
It brings people together and so much more…
When there are things to do, it brings people here to our county and it keeps some of us home instead of traveling elsewhere!
Summer is a time I love to travel. I love adventure, I love the journey and I love
“things to do”. I am not one to sit in one place long unless it can keep my interest.
Well that is what I have witnessed about myself and others over the last couple of months. Our community has “things to do” which means I am staying home so much more this summer. I am eating, shopping and enjoying all the entertainment and events right here in my own community back yard. It has been nice to stay HOME!
Walker County and all the cities within have had concerts, biking events, outdoor activities, movies in their parks, plays and LaFayette has added this year a Honeybee Festival in June that brought 10,000+ people into the downtown area to shop, eat, and enjoy all the entertainment. It has made it less desirable to travel somewhere else when there is so much “to do” here in Walker County.
In addition to what there is to do currently, our community leaders and volunteers are totally on board with more events, activities and festivals growing every year. Also, the cycling community is looking to create a local weekly ride date and time. There are new businesses coming into our area such as coffee shops, restaurants and other businesses. I am excited to see what is next.
It is summertime and let the fun begin safely in our own neck of the woods!
