The 14-year-old Rossville Baseball Disciples went 4-0 to win the Dizzy Dean District 1 tournament, which concluded on Monday, June 12 at Rossville City Park.
Rossville opened with wins over the Boynton Tigers and Trion before a winners’ bracket final victory over the Boynton Red Sox. They advanced to the finals where they handled Summerville to claim the title.
The Disciples will begin play in the Dizzy Dean North Georgia Sanctioned State tournament on Friday, June 23. The tournament will also be held at Rossville City Park.
Rock Spring’s 9-yearold made it to the finals of their District 1 tournament in Trion, but fell twice to the host team and had to settle for the runnerup trophy. Despite the loss, Rock Spring qualified for the Dizzy Dean North Georgia Sanctioned State tournament in Canton, starting June 23.

This past week, the 5-year-old district tournament was held in Boynton and the home team won after sweeping Dade County in a best-of-three series.
The remaining three District 1 tournaments were scheduled to be completed this past
Monday, but due to newspaper deadlines, results were not available as of press time.
The Chickamauga Storm and the Boynton Barons were slated to play in the finals of the 6-year-old tournament at Boynton. Rock Spring finished third in the tournament. In Summerville, the host team will face LaFayette in the 8-year-old tournament finals.
