Mackie Jean Young Tarvin, 88, Chickamaug­a

Mackie Jean Young Tarvin, of Chickamaug­a, Ga., passed away Thursday, June 15, 2017, at her residence. She was 88.

She was born in Chattanoog­a, Tenn., to the late Dock Harvey Young and Jeannie Mary Elizabeth Henry Young. She had resided in the Wallacevil­le and Chickamaug­a area since 1939. She was a graduate of Rossville High School - Class of 1946.

She was the owner/ operator of Mackie’s Beauty Salon from 1950’s through the 1970’s.

She was a member of Oakwood Baptist Church in Chickamaug­a, Ga.

She enjoyed working crossword puzzles and was avid in doing so.

Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Thomas William Tarvin and their daughter, Brenda Joyce Tarvin Barton.

Survivors include: her son, Thomas Stephen “Steve” (Jennifer) Tarvin of Chickamaug­a, Ga.; daughter, Michelle Lynette Tarvin Ervin of Lenoir City, Tenn.; sister, Barbara Ruth Young Brown of Rossville, Ga.; brother, James R. “Jim” (Peggy) Young of Rossville, Ga.; grandchild­ren, Thomas Lance (Lori) Tarvin, Amy Michelle Tarvin (Stuart) Phillips, Larry Brent (Tia) Barton, William Heath Ervin, Jason Michael Ervin; great-grandchild­ren, Cole Tarvin, Sadie Tarvin, Lennon Lowery, Jack Lowery, Emma, Sam, Jenna and Kelsie Phillips, Zach Barton, Sydney, Shea and Will Ervin; several nieces and nephews.

Visitation: The family will receive friends Saturday from 5-8:00 p.m. and Sunday after 1:00 p.m. until to the funeral.

Funeral services: will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, June 18, in the chapel with Reverend Terry Burns officiatin­g.

Burial: will be in Lakewood Memory Gardens-South, Rossville, Ga.

In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial donations made to T. C. Thompsons Children’s Hospital at 910 Blackford Street, Chattanoog­a, Tenn. 37403.
