Free­dom Fest 5K, 10K to be held Satur­day

The Sec­ond An­nual Free­dom Fest Run will be held this Satur­day (July 1) through his­toric down­town LaFayette.

There will be a 5K, a 10K and a one-mile fam­ily fun run, which all be­gin and end at the LaFayette Re­cre­ation De­part­ment. The 5K and 10K cour­ses are USATF cer­ti­fied.

Packet pick-up will be June 30 from 4-8 p.m. and on July 1 start­ing at 6:45 a.m. at the Re­cre­ation De­part­ment. Gates will open at 5:30 a.m. on the day of the race. The 5K and 10K races will be­gin at 7, while the fun run will be­gin at 7:05. Awards will be handed out at ap­prox­i­mately at 8:45.

Reg­is­tra­tion will close 15 min­utes prior to the start of each race.

Ad­mis­sion is free for ev­ery­one. Pro­ceeds will ben­e­fit the LaFayette “Shop With A Cop” pro­gram and the LaFayette Ram­bler high school cross coun­try and track and field pro­grams.

Ben­e­fit Kick­ball Tour­na­ment

The “Coaches for Kid­neys” Adult Co-Ed Kick­ball Tour­na­ment will be held on Satur­day, July 1 at the Ring­gold High School foot­ball field from 9 a.m.-7 p.m.

Each team must con­sist of 10-15 play­ers, all of which must be at least 18 years of age and three of which must be fe­male. The en­try fee is $150 per team. Space is lim­ited to just 10 teams and the dead­line to reg­is­ter is June 28.

All pro­ceeds from the event will go to ben­e­fit the Emer­gency Hous­ing Pro­gram of the Kid­ney Foun­da­tion of Chat­tanooga and Ring­gold High School coach Hous­ton White, who is com­pet­ing in the “Dare to Dance” event, which also ben­e­fits the Kid­ney Foun­da­tion of Chat­tanooga.

Hon­ey­cutt Warm-Up Tour­na­ment

The Rick Hon­ey­cutt World Se­ries Warm-Up Base­ball Tour­na­ment will be held July 7-10 for teams, ages 5-12. Lim­ited spots are avail­able.

The team fee is $50 for teams ages 8U or un­der and $100 for teams ages 9U or up. Each team will be guar­an­teed three games.

LMS Bas­ket­ball Golf Tour­na­ment

The LMS Ram­blers bas­ket­ball pro­gram will hold its first golf tour­na­ment at the LaFayette Golf Course on Satur­day, July 8. The fee is $75 per player or $300 per four­some.

Sign-ins will be­gin at 8 a.m. and the tour­na­ment will be­gin with a shot­gun start at 9.

There will also be con­tests for long­est drive and clos­est to the hole.

Ridge­land youth foot­ball camps

Ridge­land High School will hold youth foot­ball train­ing camps on July 10, 17 and 24 for play­ers ages 5-12. The camps are free to at­tend and will run from 5:30-7:30 p.m. each night.

Ridge­land High Cheer Camp

The third an­nual Ridge­land High School Cheer­lead­ing Kids’ Camp will be held July 10-12 at Ridge­land High School from 6-8 p.m. each night. The cost is $40 per camper, which in­cludes a T-shirt and a snack. Campers are asked to bring their own wa­ter.

Lady Bob­cats vol­ley­ball open gym work­outs

The Ge­or­gia North­west­ern Lady Bob­cats’ vol­ley­ball pro­gram will hold open gym work­outs on July 10, July 17, July 24 and July 31 from 6-7:30 p.m.

Open gym work­outs will be held at the Rossville Ath­letic Cen­ter (301 Wil­liams Street). In­com­ing and/or cur­rent GNTC stu­dents are en­cour­aged and in­vited to at­tend. Prospec­tive ath­letes must bring a com­pleted and up­dated phys­i­cal form in or­der to par­tic­i­pate.

He­roes Run

The Chat­tanooga He­roes Run/ Walk, pre­sented by Er­langer’s Level One Trauma Cen­ter, will take place on Satur­day, July 15 be­gin­ning at 8 a.m.

The five mile loop course will be­gin at the Naval Op­er­a­tional Sup­port Cen­ter and Ma­rine Corps Re­serve Cen­ter and end at the Hu­bert Fry Cen­ter at the Ten­nessee RiverPark. Park­ing will also be avail­able at the RiverPark.

The one-mile kids run will be­gin at 10 a.m. at the RiverPark.

Dead­line to reg­is­ter is July 9 at mid­night.
