Freedom Fest 5K, 10K to be held Saturday

The Second Annual Freedom Fest Run will be held this Saturday (July 1) through historic downtown LaFayette.

There will be a 5K, a 10K and a one-mile family fun run, which all begin and end at the LaFayette Recreation Department. The 5K and 10K courses are USATF certified.

Packet pick-up will be June 30 from 4-8 p.m. and on July 1 starting at 6:45 a.m. at the Recreation Department. Gates will open at 5:30 a.m. on the day of the race. The 5K and 10K races will begin at 7, while the fun run will begin at 7:05. Awards will be handed out at approximat­ely at 8:45.

Registrati­on will close 15 minutes prior to the start of each race.

Admission is free for everyone. Proceeds will benefit the LaFayette “Shop With A Cop” program and the LaFayette Rambler high school cross country and track and field programs.

Benefit Kickball Tournament

The “Coaches for Kidneys” Adult Co-Ed Kickball Tournament will be held on Saturday, July 1 at the Ringgold High School football field from 9 a.m.-7 p.m.

Each team must consist of 10-15 players, all of which must be at least 18 years of age and three of which must be female. The entry fee is $150 per team. Space is limited to just 10 teams and the deadline to register is June 28.

All proceeds from the event will go to benefit the Emergency Housing Program of the Kidney Foundation of Chattanoog­a and Ringgold High School coach Houston White, who is competing in the “Dare to Dance” event, which also benefits the Kidney Foundation of Chattanoog­a.

Honeycutt Warm-Up Tournament

The Rick Honeycutt World Series Warm-Up Baseball Tournament will be held July 7-10 for teams, ages 5-12. Limited spots are available.

The team fee is $50 for teams ages 8U or under and $100 for teams ages 9U or up. Each team will be guaranteed three games.

LMS Basketball Golf Tournament

The LMS Ramblers basketball program will hold its first golf tournament at the LaFayette Golf Course on Saturday, July 8. The fee is $75 per player or $300 per foursome.

Sign-ins will begin at 8 a.m. and the tournament will begin with a shotgun start at 9.

There will also be contests for longest drive and closest to the hole.

Ridgeland youth football camps

Ridgeland High School will hold youth football training camps on July 10, 17 and 24 for players ages 5-12. The camps are free to attend and will run from 5:30-7:30 p.m. each night.

Ridgeland High Cheer Camp

The third annual Ridgeland High School Cheerleadi­ng Kids’ Camp will be held July 10-12 at Ridgeland High School from 6-8 p.m. each night. The cost is $40 per camper, which includes a T-shirt and a snack. Campers are asked to bring their own water.

Lady Bobcats volleyball open gym workouts

The Georgia Northweste­rn Lady Bobcats’ volleyball program will hold open gym workouts on July 10, July 17, July 24 and July 31 from 6-7:30 p.m.

Open gym workouts will be held at the Rossville Athletic Center (301 Williams Street). Incoming and/or current GNTC students are encouraged and invited to attend. Prospectiv­e athletes must bring a completed and updated physical form in order to participat­e.

Heroes Run

The Chattanoog­a Heroes Run/ Walk, presented by Erlanger’s Level One Trauma Center, will take place on Saturday, July 15 beginning at 8 a.m.

The five mile loop course will begin at the Naval Operationa­l Support Center and Marine Corps Reserve Center and end at the Hubert Fry Center at the Tennessee RiverPark. Parking will also be available at the RiverPark.

The one-mile kids run will begin at 10 a.m. at the RiverPark.

Deadline to register is July 9 at midnight.
