Sus­pected cop stab­ber ex­tra­dited

James Allen John­son, 44, who was charged Mon­day (July 3) with stab­bing a Walker County Sher­iff’s Of­fice Cpl. J. D. Hol­land, was ex­tra­dited from the Hamil­ton County, Tenn., jail to the Walker County, Georgia, jail at about 5 p.m. Wed­nes­day (July 5), ac­cord­ing to Sher­iff Steve Wilson.

John­son waived ex­tra­di­tion to Georgia in a first ap­pear­ance hear­ing on July 5 in Hamil­ton County Court. The sus­pect was charged with ag­gra­vated as­sault on a peace of­fi­cer and vi­o­la­tion of pa­role. John­son was re­leased from prison in May 2016.

The Georgia Bureau of In­ves­ti­ga­tion is in­ves­ti­gat­ing the as­sault.

Cpl. Hol­land is ex­pected to re­turn to duty within the next 10 days, the sher­iff said.
