Lady Warriors out to 2-0 start in 6-AAA North play

The Red-and-White opened subregion action with a pair of home victories last week against Coahulla Creek and longtime rival Ringgold.

LFO 7, Coahulla Creek 2

Last Tuesday, LFO scored three runs in the bottom of the first and never looked back, pounding out 10 hits against Lady Colt pitching.

Shaniyah Jones had two hits, scored twice and knocked in a run, while Karson Bradford was 2-for-3 with a pair of RBIs. Jerrian Jackson was 2-for-3 with a run scored, while Keelie Mauk was 1-for-2 with two RBIs. Morgan Ritchey had a big night as a courtesy runner, swiping three bases and scoring twice.

Kourtney Morrison threw all seven innings, allowing two earned runs on seven hits with two walks. She ended the night with four strikeouts.

LFO 6, Ringgold 1

Bradford launched a two-run homer and the Lady Warriors pounded out double-digit hits to collect a Thursday night victory over their county rivals.

Jones was 3-for-4 with a double and a run scored for LFO. Lyndsey Teague was 2-for-2 with a double, a run scored and an RBI, while Morrison helped her own cause by going 2-for-3 at the plate.

Morrison picked up the victory by striking out three in seven innings. The run she allowed was unearned.

LFO (5-5 overall, 2-0 in 6-AAA North) was slated to play a non-region game Monday at Dade County, but results were unavailabl­e as of press time. They will travel to Chatsworth on Thursday for a date with Murray County (5:30 p.m.).
